    Cheers Pockwhite.
For what it's worth, I would point out that in my time I have been in various rock bands, stood at the side of the stage while Hawkwind played and in my youth was the proud owner of a bullet belt

Morph - love that Gil track ... the man was messed up but still a legend

Here's another cracker from the man, along similar lines as his most celebrated song, The Bottle, lyrically but much more intense musically:

Gil Scott Heron - Home Is Where The Hatred Is

Just came across this on Youtube - didn't realise there was so much Soft Machine on Youtube until tonight. I've mentioned before i think that the Softs were probably my favourite band from the age of about 14 to 21. This one had Robert Wyatt on vocals before he fell out of that window and broke his back! (he that did the cover, and much better version of I'm a believer). Ah the memories!

This might not be to everbody's taste - but again just found it on Youtube. In the early days of the Soft Machine they often included vocals (whereas they became pretty much an instrumental outfit in their later years) and if it wasn't Rob Wyatt then it would be Kevin Ayers. This is another track that is on a couple of the very earliest Soft Machine albums (I have almost all of them by the way, including some rare imports!!!) and is one that I can still recite some 40 years on! Kevin Ayers died in February this year.

What a song!! Ibelieve it's about the fall of Communism in the former DDR (East Germany).
I spent two years over there, and was lucky enough to visit Berlin in 1991.
Another good German metal band are Rammstein.....check em out,it's rockin
