Predictions/Selection/Opinions?
I don't know if we have any other avid cricket fans on the forum, but it's a subject thats going to be getting a lot of coverage in the news over the summer so I thought I'd see what anyones thoughts/views were regarding predictions/selection/anything else that is Ashes related.

Come on you England!

The only thing I can see stopping an England 4/5 - 0 win is rain, and we all know that is highly likely!

I shall watching this and hopefully we can spank them. Hopefully some of our Australian members can tell us what the feelings are in Oz on The Ashes.

Come on England.

I can't help but feel that if we don't make some early break throughs tonight we may be in trouble! These are perfect Jimmy Anderson conditions and apart from Watson and Clarke there isn't too much to worry about, especially with the bowling attack we have... Saying that, never underestimate the convicts! Poor shot selection from our boys, it seems everyone wanted to show some intent and get some runs on the board, not a good start.

Prediction - England 2-1 2 draws thanks to the rain

There not much stir about the ashes here in Oz, it gets a couple of pages in the papers and thats been about it, i think its got a lot do with the fact the Aussie team is not as strong as it used to be. I think the Aussies are still in shock after the Wallabies got hammered by the British/Irish Lions.

England 215
Australia 4/75

Unbelievable cricket so far today at 117 for 9 the Aussies were all but done and out. In comes 19 year old Ashley Agar and at lunch they are 229 for 9. Fantastic fight back.

I love that he has just come in and shown the top order how to do it!! It has to be a good sign that a 19 year old on debut can score like this too, you would think it means a few of our lads can now go and make the most of what should be a day and a half of perfect batting conditions!

Agar caught for 98, absolutely brilliant innings and I'm sure I'm not alone wishing he had his maiden century. Couple of records for him, I'm sure there'll be plenty more to come in his career.

Great fightback by the Aussies, now can England bat them out of the game?

It's going to be a close one, foolish of people to write the Aussies off before the series began.

Unbelievable stuff in the test match. Australia need 20 runs and have no more batsmen to come. Nerves jangling all over the place and they stop for lunch

All over England go 1-0 up, too close for comfort though.

What a test match!! I don't think I can take another 4 like that though.

There is a lot of talk this morning about the performances of Bairstow, Finn and Broad. I think we should drop Finn and get Bresnan in for the second test, I like Finn but he bowls too many four balls. Another positive for Bresnan is that he is also very capable with the bat and it cannot hurt to have a bit more strength lower down the order, case and point Agar and Pattinson.
