As grilled by Maplewhite Thanks to Maplewhite for supplying me with the questions and to Deebo for sorting this out. Hope you enjoy reading it .
1. What would be your Leeds United starting 11 from players past and present that have worn the shirt?
I’ll only do this from players during my time watching Leeds, because I can’t really judge for the likes of Bremner, Strachan, etc…
So, then:
GK – Nigel Martyn: You can’t beat Nigel, a true Leeds legend who proved himself as a quality keeper throughout the premiership.
RB – Gary Kelly: Always put in 100% into every game, he loved the club, and although he left in somewhat murky circumstances, he will always be remembered
CB – Patrick Kisnorbo: For this level he has been absolutely amazing and has really made a difference to our side. You know a player is key when the whole backline doesn’t play as well without him.
CB – Lucas Radebe: Unbelievably passionate and dedicated to Leeds, I have always modelled myself on him and is one of the best defenders I have ever seen play. Dom Matteo is unfortunate to miss out
LB – Ben Parker: We’ve had some rubbish down the years, but Parker stands out amongst them, with Ian Harte just behind him. I really rate this guy and think he can make such a difference.
RM – Robert Snodgrass: This guy can make such a difference to a game when he is on form, and is so loved with the fans. Some may argue there have been better wingers in past years, but I would disagree.
CM – David Batty: Just like Radebe, a dedicated and passionate player for us, and like Radebe, fell victim to a terrible injury.
CM – Jonny Howson: Some may be surprised by this, and OK, this season hasn’t been his best, but he has shown his talent in the past, and I believe he is one for the future.
LM – Harry Kewell: As much as it pains me to say it, he was a fantastic and immense player, and going purely by that, and disregarding other antics, he more than deserves a place in the side.
ST – Alan Smith: Not the best player in the world, but I really liked him and would take him back any day. The love he has for the club is exceptional, and I would love to see him back.
ST – Jermaine Beckford: Outstanding player. As much as his attitude annoys me, I can’t deny his class, and he deserves a place in the team.
2. England as a nation within the European community is not what she once was. Which famous figure from our history would you bring back to restore some pride and identity to our nationality? And what qualities/skills would he or she possess to do it?
Errr… as I’ve said in another thread, I’m not much of a patriot, so I can’t really say I’m too fussed about political figures, and the like.
Someone who this nation should be really proud of is the great John Cleese. He for me, out of all those Englishmen, is one of the greatest geniuses this country has seen. OK, he’s an actor/comedian, but I’d much rather someone who makes me laugh and makes me feel happy than some boring old fart in Parliament trying to tell me that the nation is something to be proud of.
3. We can all say that this decade has had its ups and downs for us as a club. Name 2 clubs that would raise a smile from you if the same nightmares we have had, happened to them, and 2 other clubs you would really feel for if they announced administration was in effect.
Clubs I’d smile at:
oooh, so many – I’d have to say Cardiff City and Sheffield United, for the obvious reasons. I could have said so many more – Palace, Millwall, Man City, Man U, Chelsea, but unfortunately Maplewhite only gave me two
Clubs I’d feel for:
Celtic and Liverpool, as they are my second and third teams in Britain. I have a special bond with ‘Pool as my brother and dad support them, and everybody loves a bit of Celtic don’t they
4. You've just checked a lottery ticket that you had forgotten about and find that you are now 1/2 million quid richer. How would you spend it? (To the nearest 10 grand.)
I think I’d definitely be sensible and leave some aside to get me through uni, as I’m going in a couple of years. I’d buy myself a season ticket at Elland Road, and I’d get myself a car and a house in Germany, where I’d love to live when I’m older.
That’d make about £130,000, wouldn’t it, I wouldn’t even need to work when I’m older
5. Finish the sentence with as true a definition you can think of.
Simon Grayson is ...............
The messiah, the saviour, a miracle. No, OUR miracle.
Simon Grayson is GOD.
6. Rumour is that Bates is selling up and leaving football for good. What sort of owner would you want to see in place? A selfish financial wizard or someone with a personal attachment to the club? If possible, name 2 people you would love to see buy Leeds United.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could have someone with both?
OK, I’d probably choose the selfish financial wizard, who wants us to succeed to earn himself more money, therefore injecting more money. I’d hope this guy would be a more generous Bates. He gives a bit more, but he’s just as crafty and money-grabbing.
7. Some day in the future your country needs you and every able bodied person of your generation. Would you join up straight away or wait to be called up?
Depends on the circumstances. If it was for a war that I didn’t agree with, I’d probably leave the country, to get away from it. If I agreed with it though, I’d sign up straight away.
8. A few years ago the NHL introduced salary caps on the clubs to curb the outrageous wages that were going on. Do you see the need for this in English football? What do you think will be the outcome in say, 5 years, if there isn't some sort of control on what players are paid?
Oh, a very dangerous question, mate, I could write an essay about this
Don’t worry, I’ll give you the edited version
It’s my strong belief that the premiership, due to extortionate wages, the influence the prem has on money and TV, is on the brink of implosion. Unless something drastic is done (i.e. wage caps), something drastic will happen (i.e. the implosion of the prem). Sometimes, looking at footballers these days, I don’t think that would be such a bad thing. All these primadonnas we have in the game these days, thinking they’re all high and mighty because they get paid unbelievable money for kicking a bag of air around, the total lack of sight we have on the original concept of the game, proves to me that we need to return to the grass roots of football, as it was in the old days, and as it remains today in the lower leagues such as the conference.
9. Which of the 3 ex-Leeds players could you bear being seen with on the terraces at ER? Rio Ferdinand, Michael Bridges, or Alan Smith?
Alan Smith without a doubt. I’ve forgiven his ‘treachery’ after learning of the circumstances behind the move and would love to see him back in some capacity in future.
That beloved ex-captain of ours, and now the new England captain was and still is a complete and utter prat and I wouldn’t be seen dead with him, let alone at ER.
Bridges disgraced himself and the club on his departure, and for that he can never be forgiven.
10. What is the best piece of advice given to you so far to help you get on in life? And who gave you it?
Best piece of advice came from a film called ‘Click’ starring Adam Sandler. Even if you’ve seen the film, you may not understand why I decided to draw this out of it, but it’s just something personal to me.
First of all, since seeing that movie, family has had a much more importance to me, and I would put family and friends ahead of anything, even Leeds.
But the main advice I got from it was nicely summed up by these lyrics from a Nickelback song:
“If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had, if today was your last day?
What if, what if, if today was your last day?”
Bit cheesy I know, but that is the best piece of advice I could possibly ever have – Live every day to its fullest.

Cant understand the I can't forgive stuff about players??/ If they don't want to stay then "Good luck and good bye and don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out" I don't dislike any ex Leeds player and I know of more than one that the club have Royaly shafted before they left. Let sleeping dogs lie and never say never.

Do you mean in general, or something I answered?
I agree, in general, I don't dislike any player who has left Leeds, but there are those like Kewell, Ferdinand, who I can't stand. On the whole, though, I do have a lot of respect for most of our ex-players

Na mate just in general. You hear this stuff a lot not just here but on many forums.
The Kewell saga is a lot like Beckfords now, we could sell him for a profit or hold onto him until we make nothing. Same old shit different players...
