Watched "A Complete History of My Sexual Failures" most recently. Pretty funny overall, though bit artificial in some places (supposed to be a documentary). Worth watching for a laugh.

Saw The Hurt Locker a few weeks ago - not bad. Good input from Jeremy Renner but overall a bit cowboyish.
Watched it last night, thought it was alright but certainly not brilliant.

I'll get back to you all with some of my film recommendations but their are alot of movies all of which are very cultured and alot of European cinema which i personally think is 10 x better then anything that comes out of the USA.
I used to enjoy action films now they bore the hell out of me, Unless the movie has good acting and a good storyline it's all good.
I went to see Iron man2 and was so bored after the first 30 to 45 mins when just a few years earlier i so much enjoyed the first one. I guess it has to do with my g/f engaging me in European cinema and films with actual meaning. When i give my list i suggest you watch some if you haven't seen them and see for real what acting and a good story/plot is all about.

Watched the Wrestler movie (big fan of wrestling) but was so disappointed not enough wrestling scenes and too much back story but it pulled Micky Rourke out of the hole his acting career was in.
Waiting for the A Team movie (I'll wait for comments of how stupid i am now shall I?)

I'll see your European cinema and raise you my Asian preferences. So if you don't know who Kim Ki Duk is, for example, then you've still got a thing or two to learn about cultured cinema.
Movies are very much a matter of taste obviously, but I don't think you can just dismiss a whole batch of productions from one country altogether. For example, between 12 Angry Men and Pulp Fiction you have both an artsy and action approach and I dare you (dare you, I tell you! ) to say either one of them is a poor movie.

I never said that movies from USA are bad and i never said European Cinema was the better of all Cinema, I was simply stating which where i quote myself "I PERSONALLY THINK IS 10 x BETTER"
So being as i said "personally" means i was referring to myself and not what anyone else thinks. As each person has their own tastes in Cinema. I love a lot of films from the USA. I was basically saying the majority of movies. I thought this would have been made clear by what i typed but obviously not.
Obviously you can tell i was saying i like cultured movies that have good acting and good plot/storyline. Don't know why you felt the need to point anything out to me but alls well that ends ok.

If it's any consolation, I completely agree with you. Give me French Cinema any day over American or English. Most (but NOT all) of US films are utter garbage.
As you say - it's just a matter of taste.

Wow, Gaz, where do I pick up...
First of all, there's no need to take it so personal. The idea of a forum is that we can all have opinions and they don't have to coincide, so it's absolutely fine to believe and state anything you like. HOWEVER, if you come on with a contrary opinion and present, no, wait, "suggest" another view on things, then you must be prepared to, in turn, take counter-arguments from someone else. You don't have to give in to anyone and/or change your opinions because of this, but be willing to have them come in the pool of debate and throw ideas around openly.
That established, if we must, then let's get semantic:
I never said that movies from USA are bad and i never said European Cinema was the better of all Cinema, I was simply stating which where i quote myself "I PERSONALLY THINK IS 10 x BETTER"
I was basically saying the majority of movies. I thought this would have been made clear by what i typed but obviously not.
Actually you said "10 x better than anything that comes out of the USA", with emphasys on "anything", which literally means all, not the majority. And the ten times better comparison basically and in itself implies superiority. So, make up your mind on what you're trying to preach, but don't backtrack when someone takes it on.
Also, please note that my post contained no less than 3 smileys in the space of 4 phrases. Not my usual cup of tea, but I felt it would be good to highlight the, mostly, tongue-in-cheek nature of my comments and not make it sound like I was out to change anything about anyone. Why, despite the general good nature of my post, you felt the need to take it so personal is beyond me.
Last, but not least, this might seem like a topical crusade, but it isn't. I couldn't care less what everyone chooses to watch, but I care about what attitudes are passed around this forum and I'm trying to take a stand about what seems to be a general approach of yours. It's not the first post that comes across with an air of superiority on your part here, and while that would be perfectly fine with anyone else, there are connections that make us aware of what may (or may not be) a general inclination of yours towards this type of behaviour. You'll know perfectly fine what I mean.
So while there is absolutely no problem yet and this is as open minded a place as you are likely to find, I just want to put it across that if this is your way then you should look to temper it or find another solution that suits you, because we're all for good-natured, friendly discussions here.
If you want to chase this up with me via PM, feel free to do so, but I felt the need to post this publicly to state a general atmosphere that we're well keen on preserving here.
Thank you.
