Thanks guys, its good to have support no matter how far and wide it comes from
on my front my father is home the seizure was caused by his medication (for heart/blood pressure), he did some minor damage to his shoulder and bit his tongue, ow!
Thats sad ONS about the guy who died on the other forum, to be in such despair to want to end it all.

Best wishes to Garper and your father.
What happened to Garper is as bad as it gets, and I cannot imagine how he and his family are ever going to sleep at night again. I applaud the citizens for taking matters into their own hands. Heck, if I lived there I'd do it myself. Fight fire with fire indeed!

Mr Russell, is there a problem in particular with street violence in that area? I went on the Newcastle Herald website to see if there had been any more articles about garper's case, and the headline on the homepage is about a rail line that sees constant muggings and serious assaults, and a youngster getting assaulted on the same night as our Gary.

Yes Bogdan the violence/attacks have been more frequent over the past couple of years, about 10yrs ago these kind of attacks were sporadic at best. The area where garper lives there seems to be a gang of kids going around causing trouble and i mean kids they range between 13-20 and because the system will only give them a slap on the wrists, don't do it again (for those under 18) they can get away with it. The situation (not just garper's) has made a lot of people angry and want to take action (vigilante type) and reclaim the streets for the average man/woman but that will only make them get in trouble with the law and then there the ones that get charged instead of these mindless cretins who have no respect for anyone. My personal view is that anyone over 13 knows what their doing (unless they are developmentally delayed, mental health issues etc) and should be charged as an adult, sadly that would fill up the gaols much quicker, there seems to be no quick answer to this as changing laws would take time and the political correctness brigade would stick their noses in, sorry getting carried away, rant over!.
On the trains they seem to have stopped having train security on night trains, another stupid idea at cost cutting. On the subject of cost cutting we used to have police stations in the major suburbs but now we have super stations and there are 2 of them for the Newcastle area (Waratah and Newcastle) this is the reason why it took 45 mins for them to get to where Garper was attacked, there used to be a station 10 mins away before the changes. Now i'm not blaming the police in anyway as their resources are stretched to the limit already, i'm sure bloody joke could tell you more about that.
On the subject of Garper there seems to be no change. He is the president of the Newcastle referees association here and they are opening up a trust in his name and after his interview on the radio (he does not remember even doing it) people have been sending in food parcels for the family, its amazing how many people want to help.
They were expecting the cretins to return on Friday night and from what i've heard there were a couple of kids outside the house around 1am in the morning but the police were called by some of the neighbours, so the big round up did not really happen thankfully.

POLICE have launched an inquiry into a string of attacks overnight on young people including students by a gang of masked robbers in Leeds.
A number of victims were taken to hospital and at least one was detained overnight with severe head and body bruising after being punched and kicked.
The attacks occurred in the Woodhouse area of the city.
The incident come only 19 days after at least 16 young people were attacked over a weekend by a similar gang roaming the Woodhouse area and assaulting young people before they had the opportunity to hand over mobile phones, cash and other valuables.
Pick up a copy of Friday’s YEP for full story.
I am sure that any of you guys based in Leeds will know about this but others may not. What strikes me is just how similar this is to the events that befell Garper. I, I am sure like many of you, was appalled at that and thankful that it was something that we didn't tend to see over here. Then the next thing I see is this. If nothing else, it may be just a nudge to you Leeds based folk to be careful and keep your eyes open when around the student areas. I am particularly concerned about such things because my lad is a student in Leeds and although he is 6 foot 6 and built like the proverbial, I doubt it would be possible to defend yourself if attacked by 20 of these cowards.

I'm sad to say it does not surprise me one bit and its going to get more common around the world. Speaking of students we have a university here in Newcastle (NSW) and the foreign students are sometimes targeted by these cowards.

Those robberies in Little London, Leeds, aren't the same as the disgusting attack on Garper and his family. i'm not defending any of them but the Leeds attacks were premeditated and based on thieving, the violence used was appalling but that's no surprise when 20 brave dregs surround one or two individuals each time.
Shocking offences but then again, I suspect half the city won't be surprised.
Best wishes to the student victims, hope it doesn't put them off Leeds forever.

I was speaking to his daughter last night and they say he is improving, he is remembering new stuff and taking it on board and not forgetting it which is a sign that his memory is slowly returning (a good thing) and he is more mobile as when i saw him i had to escort him around the hospital to just get a coffee.
The package which Sheepy/Bogdan sent has just arrived so when i get chance i will pass it on to him, many thanks to all involved in this process from the admin to the average poster on the forum.
And i'm sure when he is back to form he can thank you all himself.

First off I would like to thank Marcus (Mr Russell) for being a great friend. I know how hard it was for him to go to the hospital. I would also like to thank Bogdan and Sheepy and all the members of the forum for their kind words and support.
I was speechless when I found out what you guys have done for me (donating a shirt to replace the one that rat bag man u doctor ordered cut off me)
And will wear it with pride each and every time I put it on, not just because it is Leeds but because it comes from the best supporters in the world. Thank you all so very, very much.
I am in rehab now and I will be allowed home for the weekend, then back to hospital for monday : ( I have been ordred off work until at least 31st Jan 2012 and have been told I cannot attend Uni at all next year. I will have to use that free time on here stirring you lads up : )
Once again thank you all for the wonderful support you have shown me, it really gives my heart a lift when I see so many people from all walks of life sitting in my corner.

Great to see you back posting again Garper.
I hope you have a speedy rehab. Has your family has any more threats or trouble from these thugs? Have the police sorted anything out?

Really glad to see you back garper. All the best with your recovery mate.
A couple of things in this last week or so have just made talking about football seem pretty trivial, but i'm sure you'll be glad when you're well enough that what's going on at Elland Road and the XI Grayson's going to put out is what's troubling you the most.
