Great to hear so many people have stepped up to the mark to help Garpers family and shown everyone that while their are some scum populating this planet, there are still some really good people too.

He has been on the site a couple of times over the last few weeks (there was a period when he had no internet connection), the last time i saw him was a few weeks back when he turned up to one of our soccer training sessions and he seemed to be looking better. They have moved to another area and when they are settled a bit more i will be making a trip up to where they live now for a BBQ (and beers for me). I will text him to make sure he comes on and give a more detailed update but i'm sure he'll appreciate you asking how he is.
Cheers!

As I have not been around for a while I missed this story and I have to say its saddened me a great deal reading all the posts. I'm glad you're on the path to recovery mate! Mr Russell is there any word on the police charges/court case?

sadly have not heard anything for a while last i heard they had charged 2 people with assault probably the only ones over 18. Once Garper comes back on line i'm sure he will let us know if anything is happening on that note.

Hey guys, thought it was about time I gave you an update on how things are going. First off, thank you all for the well wishes they are much appreciated.
I have 1 more session with the Brain Injury Unit and I'm finished with them except to see the consulting specialist once every 6 months
The police charged 7 people with a number of offences including rioting with weapons ( which I hear is a very serious offence) the court cases start in June and my entire family will be called as witnesses. I also have to give a " victim of violent crime impact statement" whatever that is?
I have got my drivers licence back but not my bike licence ( I only own motorbikes) so that hasn't helped me get more mobil. lol
I have lost my job as I cannot return for at least 2 years and have defered uni for 12 months, so have plenty of time on my hands now. I do work Saturday School but that is only 38 days in the year, on the bright side I can brag that I get a 6 day weekend
We have moved into a fantastic new home away from the area the assault happened and I get to take my dog for long walks every night.
My son Ron has been granted a carers pension to look after me and we have become real movie buffs.
The family all call me BD (brain damage) because I do lots of stupid things e.g. I made dinner ( stir fry ) and counted the family members I had to cook for and plated it all up nicely, even garnished them then realised I forgot to count myself and had to go without. I told the family I already had mine so they wouldn't feel bad; tried to go to the nearest big town (Maitland) and got lost twice, then on the way home I ended up in the wrong town. Every trip is an adventure as I never know where I'm going or where I will end up.
The victims of crime compo people are giving me the run around saying my injuries may not be severe enough for me to qualify for compo so it's off to the lawyers next week to see what they say...
All in all I am a lot better than I was a few months ago and all the doctors are really happy with my progress. There are a few downs but they are way outnumbered by the ups. The people of Newcastle have been fantastic and it is reasuring to know there are 100 good people to every 1 rat bag.

Gary, it's great to hear from you and know that you're doing better. The new place you've moved into sounds great, I think Mr Russell mentioned you were loving it there as well, so really hope you're taking it easy and enjoying all the great things that come with 6 day weekends.
Let us know if there's anything at all that we can do for you, I think I speak for all of us here wishing you well and willing to help if we can at all.

Don't know how the hell I managed to miss this thread, really glad you are on the mend Gary, I would have no regrets whatsoever at shooting these scum, there is still a lot of good in this World but there is also a hell of a lot of crap.
I have always been a great believer in letting the police do their job however in this country due to the ineptitude of the Government & bankers together the Public sector are suffering drastic cut backs & I can see a time soon when the police will be turning a blind eye to vigilantes ridding the streets of scum.
About four years ago a member of a bikers forum that I frequent had his prized bike stolen from a lock up garage, he got a tip off as to who the culprits were, he told them if he got the bike back that would be the end of the matter, long story short he ended up being beaten senseless & ended up in hospital in Peterborough. several members of the said forum (sadly I could not make it) rode to Peterborough, there were people from as far away as Edinburgh & Portsmouth there was even an American member who was visiting a friend in Norfolk at the time.
They met up with the scumbags who had taken the bike, they recovered the bike plus one or two other items, whilst Richard was recovering in Hospital the lads fixed his bike up for him, glad to say Rich has not been bothered since.

Thanks for the update Gary, glad to see you are doing ok but please try to remember to feed yourself, we can send you a shirt but by the time the fish n chips get there they will have gone cold!
With regards to the people charged, the phrase that springs to mind is 'throw away the key'.
Keep in touch

Heart warming to hear you progressing well and in good spirit. Sounds like your really getting your life back on track. Don't worry about the lack of work, I'm sure something will soon work out. Just make the most of the extra time. Most important that you and your family are enjoying life and your new surroundings.

Great to hear you're going well Garper
You might want to stay away from Leeds United in the summer, that can't be good for anyone's health!
