Frequently Asked Questions on LUFCTALK
We have decided to make a FAQ thread so myself, bogdan and moderators can post any answers we have to the most frequently asked questions.

It will hopefully make a good reference point for everyone.

If there a question you want to ask that is not featured in this thread, please PM myself, bogdan or a moderator.

Cheers

HOW TO POST A VIDEO CLIP TO THE FORUM

The LUFCTALK messageboard allows easy posting of two of the major video streaming websites: YouTube and DailyMotion. Here's how:

For a YouTube clip

You need to copy the clip link, that you can find in the browser address bar usually, or in the small URL box just below the clip info (the red-marked areas in the image below)

And from a full link you only need the bit marked in bold. Basically it's the string of characters that comes after "v=" (until the end of the link or until the first occurrence of "&", which signals another variable).
CODE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9zZW8xlCu4

To post it inside a forum topic you need to include that code between two special youtube tags, this way:
CODE
[youtube]k9zZW8xlCu4[/youtube]

This will embed the video file inside the page on LUFCTALK, like this:

For dailymotion videos, the procedure is similar, but the typical direct link to a file there is
CODE
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xa1ajl_burnley-v-leeds-united-12-1809-frie_sport

Where again the bit we need is this
xa1ajl_burnley-v-leeds-united-12-1809-frie_sport
so just the whole string after 'video/', and to embed it , put it between these tags:
CODE
[dailymotion]xa1ajl_burnley-v-leeds-united-12-1809-frie_sport[/dailymotion]

If you do a search for a video and then navigate to it from the results page, however, the link might be different, like in this case, where I've searched for 'burnley leeds' first. I then got this link in the address bar:
CODE
http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/burnley+leeds/video/xa1ajl_burnley-v-leeds-united-12-1809-frie_sport

But, again, you can see the bit we need is also after 'video/' and right at the end.

And the result will be an embedding like this:

HOW TO ADD A LINK TO A POST.

All you have to do is write your post and then highlight with your cursor the text you want your link to be. Then click the link icon and paste in or type in the URL you want.
