The single worst piece of news we could ever have imagined.
Our captain, our best player, our talisman and our only glimmer of hope.
Snodgrass next and then League One.

Absolutely agreed, what kind of ambition does this show?
I realise from a business perspective (and this will be the line we will be fed) that a contract offer wasn't feasible so we'd risk loosing him for nothing but if it wasn't apparent before then it's absolutely obvious to everyone we are a selling club. What worries me is the knock-on effects, if we show no/little ambition then our other 'best' players like Snoddy, why would they want to stick around?
Add to the fact that Snodgrass, Ross and even Becchio (out of form but a good player when fit) have all been linked with exits. So it seems instead of selling the dead wood we've resorted to shipping our best players.
It makes me wonder about Bates, if he really wants promotion then why is he selling our best players?
It's going to go downhill from here.
Bates out.

So much for Bates demanding promotion. Selling our best players does not get us promotion.
Disgusted with how our club has been run.

I feel sick
What makes the statement worse is they are more or less admitting we have no ambition to play in the Premier League anytime soon as they have been negotiating a contract for over 12 months now.
Jonny's not daft. He can see the club is going nowhere fast. Don't expect this to be the last departure in January.
The vultures are circling the dying carcass that was Leeds United.

At this rate we will be back in League One. We are continuously selling our best players, in the space of one season we have lost Gradel and now Howson and not seen a penny spent on a decent signing that adds value to the squad.
The only signings we make are loans, rejects and journeymen.
I am outraged by this, and I'm not exaggerating.
The only way the club can come out of this with any credibility is if they tells us the fee and then we see every bit of it invested back into the squad. But we all know how much of Gradels fee has been reinvested.
Prepare for some more Bates Out demonstrations - this time they are easily justified.

Dreadful news and a cussing disgrace. We are being turned into a laughing stock by this cuss of a chairman. It's a sad enditement when a home grown player sees a brighter future for himself at Norwich. But can you blame him with Bates in charge.

Expect Snodgrass, Clayton and McCormack to go now.
And its about time Grayson came out and expressed his displeasure at all this, he can't be happy with constantly losing his best players, why the hell does he not stand up to Bates now? I could understand it a few month back when SG was safe in his job, but with current results he is probably going to get sacked anyway. He might as well come out and make a statement or make an ultimatum and bow out with dignity.
I can't blame any of the players who leave us now, that statement just says the club is happy to stagnate and just exist. Bates says he is ambitious, well put your money where your mouth is. Sorry, OUR money.

From the official site:
While accepting the offer on Tuesday the player has still to agree terms with Norwich and we are disappointed the matter has become public at this stage.
Yep, bad time for this news when the ST renewals are being sent out.
We might be morons, but we aint mugs, enough is enough. BATES OUT

The message is quite clear that we don't expect promotion this year.
This Club is heading downhill at a rate of knots with him in charge.

When we were selling all our best players before at least we knew it was because we were in financial meltdown. Now it is down to the chairman's greed and lack of ambition. If we get relegated to league 1 will he drop ticket prices?

This is very very sad news for the club. I'm not sure where our future lies now. Snodgrass will certainly go shortly in my opinion, and to be honest, would you blame him? Who'd want to play for this low rate club that completely lacks ambition?
I just hope you all (especially the Season Ticket holders) put your actions where your mouth is and stop funding Bates's fantasy.

What a total and utter f***ing disgrace we are. We want promotion? We want premier league football? We go and sell our best player, our captain, our future to Norwich f***ing City? We are a shambles of a club at the moment.
We've an arsehole of a chairman and we've a puppet of a manager.
If Grayson doesn't walk now,I'll have lost what little respect I still have for him.
Bates Out
Grayson Out.
F***ing shambles. Don't think I've been so disappointed and disgusted with us selling a player since we sold Batty.
PS - Best of luck Johnny in the Premier League. Hate to say it but I think you actually made the right choice in getting off the sinking ship Leeds United. Hopefully we might see you back in a Leeds shirt in the future when we have proper owners and a proper manager.

Bang on, completely agree.
I've always been willing to take the rough with the smooth with Bates and even when we sold Gradel, right to the final second of the transfer window I was open minded that he would reinvest the funds. It never happened.
Well enough is enough, this is too much now, its just not good enough.

Has Howson (when fit) had a good season?
Before his injury quite a few people were calling for him to be dropped from the team.
£2m now, or £0 at the end of the season?
£2m now of course. The new contract for Jonny has been on offer for about 4 months and it doesn't look like it would ever have been signed. (Remember Johnson and Kilkenny)
Saying this I'll be sad to see him go, but I don't think he's the shining light some think he is. (Be more concerned if Snoddy left).
Lets hope the money is put to good use for a change with the PERMANENT SIGNING of some quality footballers, and not some new chairs for the executive boxes.
I've never really been an advocate of the "Bates Out Brigade" as I don't have a problem with running the club as a tight ship (Look at Darlington) and we know how close we were to being in the same boat a few years ago. However my opinion is changing. We are now operating successfully in a financial way, but the financial restraints need to be loosend for us to get back were we belong.

The only way Bates can redeem himself is if he brings in 3 or 4 top quality players.
I won't be holding my breath though.
