Always been a bit ambivilent about Bates.... I think it's being so distant so not seeing enough matches but there's a couple of things that strike me in this interview:
- The signing was turned down because he would cost 600k per year, by my crude maths that is 12k a week. A lot maybe (?) for a Championship side but peanuts for a premiership one; if we truly aspire to being Premier League then 12k a week should NOT be the block to a transfer.
- AOB is "back at the club" - so it was a SG/AOB spat which KB seems to side with AOB on. I've seen the rumours, I'm not going to comment on it but managers are generally more loyal (esp when a Leeds boy) than players who come and go when a fiver is wafted under their nose.
- The bit about SG complaining about lack of funds seems to have been the final straw, not the 4-1 loss last night, not the fact we are outside the play-offs, that he spoke out about transfers being blocked. Hmmm.
- There was a lot of venom towards "small minority of fans" complaining about Bates; like I say I have kept out of it but I have seen plenty and most coming from you boys who have season tickets, the club's loyalist supporters (I'm loyal but I don't give the club much dosh!)
- SG undoubtedly has made some shit signings (or maybe, giving the benefit they haven't worked out - I don't actually believe Torres has become a shit player by joining CFC, it just hasn't worked for him). But he doesn't seem to have been given chance to get rid and replace with better. I think he may have had raw time of it to be honest.
- I am probably most concerned that throughout the entire transfer window we were linked with some good or very good players: St Leger, Sharp, Tubbs to name a few and they ALL went elsewhere. Assuming the club did enter discussions (big assumption I know), it means that ALL of these players didn't see the ambition, the drive, the potential that we are led to believe by KB the club has but went elsewhere. That says rather too much about our club for me.
After 7 years he still has the brass neck to blame everyone else even the fans before holdin his hands up!!!!!
Its clear he is angry at SG for speaking out and saying the truth and was main reason of the sacking..
Who wants to buy a club who's fans abuse the owner? Maybe he should ask who's fans want a owner like KB? !!!

Must admit this was the general gist I got from listening to the interview. He really is rattled at "The Morons" much more than he cares to make out. The fans are the life line of any club, the fans of Leeds United have had a bad hand dealt to them for far too many years and a little dissent is mocked by the chairman.
As I have said before on here surely the salaries are down to the CEO ? Yet he has grossly under budgeted on this and yet is sat at home with his P45 still in tact, double standards yet again from Bates.
A question why does the club need all this corporate hospitality when we are just a mere CCC side ? am I missing the big picture here and that the prawn sandwich brigade will tolerate mediocre football ?
What a dickhead this guy really is.
We really do have to get him out of our club.
"Empty vessels" make most noise? He also says 62% have renewed their season tickets and that proves that he is supported? The small few dissenters are driving investors away?
This guy's neck just gets thicker and thicker.
The protests need to be stepped up a good deal. It's a pity so many have renewed their ST's. I'm not having a go at anyone for doing it because I can understand the reasoning for renewing even if you are anti-Bates but staying away is the only way we'll drive him out. It's the only thing that will hurt him.
So frustrating.
Another sad day for Leeds United. Ken Bates flippant interview just shows what a cussing cuss he is. SG deserves a statue in his honour for working for this cuss for over 3 years. The bullcuss he comes out with constantly, the lies, insults and half truths become more and more astounding. Wether we lost last night or next week, SG was going to be sacked. Once the transfer window had closed, SG's slight comment 'working under financial restraints' was the final nail in the coffin.
SG must be deeply saddened that he is no longer the Leeds manager but must also feel a huge sense of relief that he doesn't have to deal with Bates and Harvey anymore. Bates makes it clear in the interview that the team has no importance to him. The club; i.e. Stadium, hotels, corporate facilities, museums and restaurants are what is important to him.
Leeds United are just his play thing to make money from. A toy to dream up new ways of tax dodging.
So £12 grand a week for a centre back in the championship is too rich for Leeds United. How dare SG ask for that. And people still point the blame at the manager. You have to pay for quality.
Bates mentions us having 30 players and that is a huge squad.

30. Five of which would be considered youth players. Three are on loan from other teams. Somma out injured all season. Parker and Bromby been injured and O'Brien unavailable. Leaves around 20 players to work with that are ours. Most players were free or bought for nominal fees. Players like Forssell, Varynen and Brown have been signed to fill the squad out of desperation because the manager has had no funds.
Bates and Harvey Out!
I think that the unrest amongst the fans is starting to work. Bates in the past has shown no desire to explain himself, yet most of this interview was spent defending his actions. He mentioned the supporters on 3 seperate occasions and briefly mentioned LUST................interesting
