Diuof .... Great signing from a pure football perspective. Sadly this signing also illustrates how far our great club has fallen from grace whilst under bates' stewardship. I have nothing but admiration for warnock, he is doing what he does best, in attempting to turn a sows ear into a silk purse, 10 out of 10 for his efforts and enthusiasm. Time will tell if warnock can make the sum considerably greater than the sum of the parts. Interestingly, the bookies rate us on a par with Cardiff to get promoted... Individually their team is far superior, time will tell if the warnock x factor will win the day.

Phil Hay @PhilHayYEP
NW on strikers: "I was looking at 1 or 2 in the Premier League but we haven’t been able to bring them in. It’s too much money at the moment"

Is this a subtle hint?

Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds and Cardiff want QPR forward Jay Bothroyd. #SUFC #SWFC #LUFC #CCFC
If true, Bothroyd would provide pace to the side and is also good in the air. However, I know he's expensive and we can only get him if the takeover is still on and happens , my preference is Craig Mackail-Smith as he works hard like Andy Keogh and would provide pace. We all saw the positive effect the work of Keogh did for McCormack last year

I just read on twitter that QPR boss wants Bothryd, Smith and Campbell out of the squad to make room for new players! Maybe one of them could become a Leeds player? I also read that apparently Warnock is looking at 2 strikers from the Premier League! I also think that Warnock should offer Diouf a contract because he is the perfect player for us, tricky for defenders and is great all round, just what we need on the wing!
Does anyone have any news on the other trialist's if they are going to be offered contracts (Gomez, Faure and Cranie)

Unless the take over happens I just can't see how we can afford Maynard. Would be a great singing though.

could it be a season long loan + an optional to sign a permanent deal?

Sky says Billy's on his way! (out)
Sky Sports understands Leeds United striker Billy Paynter has agreed a two-year deal with Doncaster Rovers.
The 28-year-old has never been in the first-team picture at Elland Road under Neil Warnock, and took in a loan spell last season at Brighton.
This summer has seen Blackpool show an interest, but Dean Saunders has always wanted the former Swindon forward and he has now got his man.
Paynter has agreed a two-year deal and is due to put pen-to-paper with Rovers on Monday

From BBC Sport:
Ipswich Town have terminated the contract of midfielder Jimmy Bullard by mutual consent.
Bullard, 33, was no longer part of boss Paul Jewell's plans after only starting 12 matches last season.
"I need to be out there on the park on a Saturday afternoon, not sitting in the stands," he said.
"I feel as fit as I've ever done and knowing that my opportunities were going to be limited at Ipswich, it's best that I move on."
What do people reckon as a freebie, worth a punt? He's a great character and would be good for the dressing room IMO

Great character? Maybe in the pub, club or bookies but not in the dressing room
Re Diouf - more perplexing for me was the singing 'He spits where he wants' etc etc. A few have attached him to the 'Dirty Leeds' legend and that's bloody wrong too. Skanky or Scummy maybe, but nothing to do with being Dirty Leeds

Sensible comment, that. There's a difference between accepting him as a player and embracing/revelling in/encouraging his antics. A line not to be crossed.

Looking on the PFA website, I see that Ricardo Fuller is still available. I think he could still be something special at Championship level as he was always a handful for Stoke's opposition. If money is short, he comes at the right price and must be worth a punt. He could also help Austin settle in.

Ricardo Fuller is one paced (slow) but give him the ball in the penalty area and he is still a handful. Could be an option but I would still prefer a workhorse with some pace - CMS.

I would prefer CMS also but if we don't have the money then Fuller, although not having CMS's pace, could still do a similar job.

Does he need a lift? Can't take the risk of him taking the train. He might miss it
