A new standard is set by the official site As far as trivial news goes, this has to take the biscuit - click here
I'll make sure I don't drop any crumbs though
Do other clubs have such trivial, tedious, uninteresting news items?

Sounds good to me. Gives Rogers and Bromby something to do at least.

Haha!
Actually Streepy, I think you're being a bit harsh there, it's good for the community and being honest here just for a second, I don't think it's just me being Victor Meldrew in disguise when I say litter seems to be getting worse and it really REALLY pees me off.

I have to say I agree with Sheepy on this one; I'm all for community involvement but this is a football club, I would rather see them doing more with local schools or under-priveledged children, giving them something to be inspired by and live for, through football.

Gives them a chance to play sweeper (sorry).
It warms my heart though that Sean Harvey is so concerned about litter - do you think he'll be going round helping to clean up then? Maybe he could then turn his attention to dealing with some of the racist trash he allows in the ground and clean that up a bit?

That all goes on too, the club has been pretty nifty over the years with schools and community education and the like, charity appearances etc. I'd bet though that the club's 'responsibility' to the community has lessened with Bates and Smithers here, but fair dos LU still do a lot which probably isn't publicised much. The website is not just team focused and so 'news' is never going to be that exciting or interesting, but it still needs reporting. Maybe text alerts aren't needed though

I have my discontent with the official website at the best of times - I think I could probably build them an automatic news generator that only takes in the last result and the name of the manager/coach to focus it around, and they could live off that for all their article needs for the next few years. But to an extent, I understand the limitations of what you can post.
However this is just utterly pointless, it's not a grand project, yes it's a decent initiative, but the kind that I don't expect to see an announcement about. I definitely don't think we needed players or the CEO attending a launch event for something like this.
Plus, what keeps streets clean is people doing the decent thing and not throwing their junk wherever they may be when they it becomes inconvenient. Educate the people, don't pour more money into cleaning up after them.

I'll be honest, I haven't bothered reading it, I did trust Strumpy's bemused response after all It's there for good PR/propaganda, in that the mighty Leeds United and Leeds City Council are on good terms etc etc. Sorry, it clearly is about as exciting as Katie Price's thoughts on the economy but nonetheless it is news, just very mundane news.

Bizarrely enough, it HAS got us lot all talking about it, which goes to prove that there is no such thing as bad publicity....
Seriously though, Bogdan makes a good point that we should round up those who drop litter and give them a good old fashioned thrashing rather than send a delinquent gang of litter pickers scouring South Leeds for discarded rubbish.
If it is supposed to highlight a new loving relationship between LUFC and LCC its kind of sad that has to be literally about rubbish. Is it also a sly dig at LUST because they have previously public ally announced that they are backed by the council?

I bet you're not far wrong with the LUST observation mate.

That's a rubbish suggestion which you should be binning. (coat at the ready).
Seriously, not sure if we're maybe reading too much into it (or the club were in thinking the "partnership" - blimey, it still makes me shake my head). A city councillor joining the Trust is a pretty bold statement. The council accepting some small donation towards doing extra sweeps of Elland Road twice a month is hardly undoing that.
Also, how will our "Dirty Leeds" chant look in this new light? Not exactly a ringing endorsement to a fairly proud reputation, is it?

The midweek news on the site has been 'rubbish' for weeks. Expect to see similar exciting articles along the lines of "Kids get a free home shirt because Kenneth is scrapping them for another new one in a few months" and "Leigh Bromby opens a building society"
At least Councillor Gabriel is pleased, for those who have LUTV, there was a 3-4 minute bit on it last night. I'm pretty sure I subscribed to LUTV to hear interviews with players/gaffer/eddie e.t.c. not about litter picking

Hurts me to say it but the tackling of the rubbish problem should start inside not outside ER starting in the boardroom.

Maybe it is contoversial and as I say hurts me to say it but I feel that our club is in a rut and needs some changes.
I am aware fans are split on the management of the club and thissplit is a bad thing but I feel that without some change we cannot move forward to our rightful position as a top 10 premiership club.
Even if we are lucky enough to make the playoffs and go up I feel we would struggle with the ambition we appear to have now.

I was being flippant mate.
But your right, the club is indeed in a bit of a rut, however the appointment of Warnock is a positive change and I do hope that it is the start of a change of policy by the club. This season we have lost too many good players and failed to replace them. If you couple it with the fact the club has been more bothered about redeveloping the East Stand than investing in the squad it is all a recipe for unrest.
Keep the faith though, we'll be back
