Agree with much of this. With the notable exception of the Southampton game, we have played almost no football in the games since he took over, even the ones we won, and for me look a much worse team now than when he took over. That has to be down his approach towards the players and the instructions he is sending them out with. Clayton, Snodgrass, Pugh etc are just not the type of players to charge about closing down and flying in with tackles everywhere, and we have lost their other qualities as a result. I can't help but feel some on here are making excuses for him; I can clearly remember reading several posts saying things like 'this is a good enough squad' or 'this squad has enough quality players to challenge' when Grayson had them on a poor run, yet those same posters are now saying the exact opposite about the same squad.
I am prepared to reserve out and out judgement on him until he's had a preseason and brought his own men in, and we see the kind of start we make, but I am not hugely encouraged by what he has managed so far. As I said in a different thread, I desperately hope he does not adopt the same tactics and approach he has taken this season, it's outdated and boring and not worth watching. But with luck the players he brings in will be capable of a bit more and he will repeat with us the successes he has managed with other clubs.

"I'm not sure of why there's any arguing about the former manager and the present one, do we not all agree that the overriding (undermining) problem is the chairman and his cronies ruining the club? Even Dave might agree with that and not call their antics 'good business' "

Exactly right. Are we going to have the funds available to adequately replace Howson, Gradel, Johnson etc., to get us back to the level we were at 12 months ago? ...

Why do we want to get back to level we were 12 months ago? We didn't make the play offs then either....
There's no point thinking "are we going to get the funds or not" cause we are not, have we learnt nothing from the Bates regime?

The point somebody made earlier about where are the next Leeds supporters going to come from i think is a valid one. I'm 20 years old and support Leeds cause my Dad does and if im totally honest after the Reading game that's the first time I've wished I didn't! I Didnt even follow the Derby game yesterday. I Know that sounds bad but that was the lowest point Ive ever experienced as a Leeds fan, even more so that when we was relegated to League one. Can Warnock turn it around...I dont know? guess we will have to wait and see cause ive had enough of only ever seeing Leeds win promotion, other than games obviously....

Aaron that is exactly my point. Read my next sentence in that post

"Are we going to have the funds available to adequately replace Howson, Gradel, Johnson etc., to get us back to the level we were at 12 months ago? ... and more again to improve the team further to make a real promotion charge, competing with the likes of probably Leicester, Wolves, Wigan, Blackburn etc. ?"

Lorimer was speaking the other day about more quality and less quantity in our squad, a complete U turn on what he said earlier in the season and something we all knew from the end of last summer. The point is how can he tell us we need more quality when he has sold most of the quality players we had over the last few years? I just cannot see Bates releasing the funds to properly replace Gradel, Howson, Johnson, Lichaj etc. to return us to a level we were at 12 months ago, and then more even more again to push us over the line for promotion.
I would be interested in hearing the views of everyone here on what they would consider a ball park figure for the transfer budget required to transform our current squad to one which could compete with the leading teams in the division next year for promotion??? We may strike lucky with the odd loanee or free transfer, but I very much doubt we could be competitive with this kind of player and a few more costing 200-300k, which I fear Warnock will have to do.

To be honest I think the players have simply given up now. The season has been written off in their minds.

Trust me, 90% of my posts here i have to spend a lot of time correcting words in Google, and after i write i look back and think "geeez looks like a 7 year old worded that" But its cool, because it really does look like that hehe
But like with most people who have Dyslexia or any kind of handicap it can been seen as a weakness or stupidness, and in most cases it isnt..

Nice of you to ask about something for better understanding.. RESPECT!

Don't know what browser you use, but I struggle with spelling, and use "Google Chrome" at home. It automaticaly highlights mispelled words, all you need to do is right click and choose the correct word. Job done! Makes life a whole lot easier than having to check words on "Word" or Google to get correct spelling. Give it a try and see if it helps, I know I am a fan of it.

Dyslexia is much more common than most people realise, and many people may suffer from some form of it or another without ever knowing.... I have struggled with numbers and spelling my whole life, and have often wondered if I ever got tested if it would result it finding out I had some form of dyslexia the whole time....

Dyslexia must be infuriating and very frustrating, especially when someone's spelling mistakes or typo's are pointed out regularly That's a joke btw, it doesn;t happen on here and hasn't. I do not think for one minute that anyone was criticising anyone else on here for being dyslexic. But dyslexia is not an explanation for lots of posters writing 'of' instead of 'have' .

There's a very well-known poster on other forums whose spelling is all over the place due to dyslexia but he always gets his point across, and his Leeds passion   .

You could also put some grammatical errors down to dialect and such. (some people try and write things how they would say it, I am often guilty of that). For example at work I am one of the few with a Leeds accent (don't ask), and I once said 'leave it while t'morrow' to someone (from Stoke) and he genuinely did not have a clue what I was saying.

Probably the key part of that sentence

Momentum is such a big thing in football ... I think the season was more or else a write off preseason. Next 8 weeks will be ever so intersting.

Good post KM.

What I thought was disappointing was the fact that, given the season was effectively over before the game, why we didnt see some of our younger players given a chance.

We know what Connolly and Robinson bring to the team so why not give the likes of Poleon, Turner twins and Taylor a go?

Bates Out!

I've heard rumours that Warnock is set to leave Elland Road and take over at Wolves next season after talks with Bates and Smithers didn't go well. He feels he will not get the support needed to rebuild the team properly. After reading Bates last YR interview will it be such a big surprise?

As much as I don't trust Bates and his sidekick, and as much as I normally believe literally anything could happen with LUFC, AND as much as I trust most things Birky says    I just can't see that happening. I mean, for me, Warnock seems to be a man of his word and all I have heard since he took over are his thoughts and plans about next season. Plus, at his age and stage of his career, the last thing he will want to do is to be seen as walking away from a tough job.

Warnock is here for the long haul (well the 1.5 seasons he has signed up to)...

i heard a rumour yesterday that a genuine takeover was coming for lufc,i dont pay much credence to it,however all mention of it has now disappeard from t'internet, twas a twitter post that linked to a facebook article and another webpage-both have disappeared now.

i do feel warnock will be activating his get out clause once he realises hes got zero support coming from bates

I only asked because I couldn't find anything to this effect myself, and I think that essentially if it's not on twitter or (pardon me) waccoe, then it's pretty low-profile. There's a good chance it's just an invention even then, but "I heard a rumour" is such an easy thing to take as a smoking gun. Not referencing yourself, birky, by the way, just as a general point, I hear stuff talked around the ground on a match day of "apparently ... [happened]" and there's never any other mention about it.

Chill peeps. It's just a rumour and was stated as such. The source was quoting another source, neither of which i can substantiate. Could have been the ketchup quoting the HP sauce, while listening in on the Hollandaisse and bechamel.
But given the current situation at the club I thought it worth mentioning. After listening to Warnock's pre-match interview it does not seem out of the realms of possibility.
While Warnock remains at the club, we the fans have the belief that things can change at the club. If Warnock can't get the funds he needs from Bates, no-one will. The month of May will be key. Bates and Harvey will have to come up with the goods or he will be off. He made it quite clear in the interview that he won't hang around just for the paycheck if he feels things are not progressing toward promotion.

p.s. The source was not the same one that told me SG had signed for Huddersfailed.
