I remeber people not being happy with Howson in a 4-4-2, well, he used to win the ball, look up and distribute a perfectly placed ball like what you said - his role was very understated and it shows by how Clayton's performance has dropped.

Classic case of not appreciating what you have until you have lost it , amount of people who slated Beckford while he was here as well, most i know all wanting him back and that is the same with Howson.

Clayton: He is a big kid and he plays like it. However, Some of the work he has done this season and some of his goals have shown that there is a good player in there am i reckon someone ike NW can make him a more regular and consistent contibutor, he needs a quality old head next to him though.
Couldn't you say exactly the same thing about players like Lonergan or Snoddy too, though?
To me, it feels like a hoodoo which has affected our most gifted players this season, and I come to the saying (which I've seen you employ a few times ) that a good player just doesn't turn bad over night. We know how good Lonergan was until his injury, we know how good Snodgrass can be and has been for good spells, and they're hardly past the age when they can be considered lost (especially Snoddy, with Lonergan it's probably more of a confidence thing).
I wouldn't stop the buck with Snods at what his speed is, it's never been his quality but he can do fine without him. I think he needs to stop featuring on posters like "keep calm and pass it to Snodgrass", and I feel he'd to better if he only had a few crucial balls a game, rather than the bulk of balls going through an otherwise thin midfield.

McCormack. Again, he did lots of work out wide in midfield so it is almost unfair to criticise him, but again he showed he is not a great finisher (I know, I know, he has scored a lot of goals......but he has had a lot of efforts too.....I just believe that someone else would do a better job as a striker.....
True, and on a related note I'd like to get a negative mention down for Forssell as well, who had a couple of very good chances and just squandered them away as if it had been his first sight of a ball. I've been a great believer in him, but today proved me wrong. To have his experience, and a clear shot 7m away from goal and only achieve a anemic bobbling shot straight at the keeper is disappointing to say the least.

Great point - I completely forgot about Forssell....my subconscious was probably trying to help me out. No, the short time he was on he was dire. There is this aspect that goalscorers need to be playing to keep sharp, but no even with that in mind he was a disgrace. If he is in NW's retained list I will....I will.....I will....Oh I can't think of anything extreme enough......
On Snoddy, you are right to remind me that he can be a great player and I am assuming from his recent displays he is no longer as good. I suppose I should qualify my comments by admitting that in a quality team with better ball into feet all around the park he might again be the "winger" in the Eddie Gray formula we all know and love. It is just so difficult to know what is wrong because when so many players are off the boil it does make it hard even for those still on it. Fair point. I think i still have a problem with him stopping as skipper though because i dont think he is mentally strong enough. fans around us said he was crying as he left the field today....that may be cos he knows he's leaving of course.

He could do these things but he didn't do them often enough. Large parts of games would go by and you wouldn't even know he was playing. I watched the Norwich vs Liverpool game on Saturday and he was way out of his depth.
I personally think we've been weak in midfield as well as defence for years, and it was only a potent attacking threat that got us promoted. Of the games i've seen this season, that little grafter with the blond hair in midfield for Barnsley (don't know his name) looks like the type of player we lack and would be a decent acquisition for us

So did Leicester City spen £15million on their squad?
If so, they only finished 5 points above us, which makes that £1million a point

That's not good Max!
Methinks you and Mr +15 will be the subject of banning orders next season!

im going with Snodgrass thinking if we don't do any decent business in this window i might have to consider giving them my business, so you may not have to worry.
