Have you talked to any of the German fans who own their club? or the Barca fans? That would be my first port of call. See what they done to make a success of ownership and get a business plan started along similar lines.

I will put in £10k if I can pick the team and choose the supplier of the pies. Also I want draught tetleys on in the section of the ground where I sit. If anyone is serious about such a venture the people to talk to are Seymour Pierce. Keith Harris is the chairman... Big scum fan, he was the fella who dug bates out the sh.t with Chelsea.

Interesting piece from David Conn in the Guardian about Swansea being owned 20% by its fans with a fan on the Board.

Won't ever happen at Leeds but interesting all the same.

Mike,
I wouldn't get too downhearted.
I think one or two realistic comments have been made on here (Bodgan for one) but like YorkshireMick says you never know until you try and by that I mean really try. Try to get something moving by way of proper meetings etc with people genuinely interested in owning some of their club, and as you say perhaps local businesses.
If you were going down the share option route, I am not sure the minimum investment would have to be £1,000. By all means put a price on a share of say £100 which would make it much more affordable for some, and those who want to invest £1,000, £2,000 or whatever could just purchase additional shares. Like you say the share value may increase and those with more shares would get a better return, but I think those who did invest would have to do so on the basis they may not see any sizeable return (if any).
Good Luck with it, and I would be very interested to see what feedback you get from the likes of LUST etc.
Cheers

With all due respect, it isn't just a matter of trying rather than not doing anything. People would immediately suspect something wasn't 'right' when they're being asked to contribute money to a cause led by someone they don't know at all. Whoever feels like trying to initiate something like this needs to be prepared for stick, needs to be thick skinned and needs to be respected & trusted. There would be masses of scepticism, doubt, suspicion involved, and much criticism aimed at someone who yes might well be 100% 'clean' and idealistic but will be accused of being in it for personal gain or glory.

Your intentions are admirable and I wouldn't have a problem chipping in if it came to fruition. However, if you think Bates would sell for £20m then your delusional (no offense). Maybe double it and you might be closer. When we were in admistration why do you think the major creditors insisted on Bates's rescue package and no one elses? They want their money bank and then some.

Hi and thanks again for comments and not ridiculing me too much
I agree its not going to happen in the format I had it and probably never will- but... if there was ever a time for it to happen it is now.
I had emailed various celebrity Leeds fans to try to give publicity to the cause and was pleased to get a reply from Chris Moyles-
It said 'auto reply; Chris is probably never going to see this email, let alone read it and even if he did see it he would never reply'...or something like that
I took that to mean he is quite keen on the idea!
Lets just hope City beat the scum to cheer me up
Cheers Mike
ps Isrodger-thanks for post and picking the team and the Tetleys is fine but I'm afraid the pie supplier request was a step too far and your offer has been rejected

Good luck mike, in my view we need a big hitter who invests and then puts in a structure broadly similar to which you advocate. I notice bates has gone quite on the pitch investors like he said he woukd do al la Chelsea... Oh but he hasn't bought back the ground ... Or training ground .. Or .... Let's just leave it. Bates out supporters trust in!

Plastic Leeds fan alert!
Where the hell was Chris Moyles when the club was going through administration and the threat of being wound up during the summer of 2007? He only crawled out from under his stone and became a Leeds fan again when we had made up the 15 points from the Football Leagues points deduction when he did a silly little song on his breakfast show.
He was just a Leeds fan when it suited it him, when he could pose for drinks with O'Leary's squad and lord it up when we were doing well, as soon as the club needed a voice and some exposure as to the complete injustice when the FL gave us a points deduction for breach of a rule they had just made up the bloke went missing...

btw - I also once tweeted him with a tongue in cheek message on twitter asking him why he didn't buy LUFC with all his money and he couldn't even muster a witty come back....

Does anyone know if Chris Moyles still goes to E.R.?
I did see him a couple of times in the West Stand but not spotted him for a long time.
