I guess it's the old is he interfering with play, is he active or inactive question, though, for their bloke who is beyond the last defender when the ball is played forward and he's in the middle of the 6 yard box about a yard or so from Lonergan?

P.S. Forgot to say, of course, when I were a lad you were either offside, if you were beyond the last defender when the ball was played, or you weren't?

I don't think he is interfering, when the ball is deflected into goal he's still sort of to the right and well ahead of Lonergan, not in his way, and not in the way of the ball either (at least not after it changes direction )

if you look where the offside fella is and the direction he is heading , would be hard for the keeper to not be worrying about him out of the corner of his eye. I'd say that is interfering , still a spawny finish to say the least.

I think he is interfering, because the guy who touches it is stood literally with him, so he must be interfering with play surely?
Basically, this is just the old offside debate that we could have every weekend for various different goals up and down the country. Its debatable, but to be fair, its not by any means a mis-justice, just interpretated differently and in some peoples opinions, including my own, wrongly.
Lets face it, Leicester could have beaten us 12-0 and it wouldn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
It just ends the season typically how most of it has gone - shambolic

Don't think it is, the only player offside doesn't touch the ball.
Irrespective of the question of offside, that image sums up our defending this season..... Appalling, whatever happened to the basic premise of getting goalside to your man?

Exactly, all season our defenders have stood off the opposition forwards, as a centre half you should be hanging onto his shirt (not literally). But you know what I mean.

Weren't we talking about the misuse of the world "literally"?
They are stood 2 meters apart when the shot towards goal is taken, and about 6 or 7m from Lonergan both, neither impeding his view.
I'm just trying to plead for common sense here, which we are arguing for so often, but I think in this case it's just nitpicking because it went against us. There's nothing that the offside player is doing to genuinely affect Lonergan's actions in this play, if we were going by ifs and buts with such scrutiny for every single attacking chance we could probably find a fault with all of them somehow.

It is ridiculous the whole set up when that shot goes in.
There are four players trying to close him down, but obviously doing a poor job of it because they don't get a foot in.
The two other players in the box are nowhere near controlling their men, with one of them (Connolly I think it is, nearer the penalty spot), even ready to move even further away from them. I assume he was expecting lay off down the left flack of their offence.

Fair enough, but they are quite closely positioned from what I see on that still shot. Perhaps not literally stood together, damn your memory of previous conversations!
I think that goal could be scored 100 times and it would not be beyond the realms of possibility for it to be given offside 50 times and allowed to stand 50 times!

Possibly true, with the standard of refereeing in this country.

Sometimes we play 4-4-2, sometimes 4-5-1, sometimes 4-3-3.
The common denominator there is the '4'.
Well if that's a flat back '4' in that picture, then I'm a Chinaman!?

Foxes team bus arriving at ER, notice the difference between the 'entrance' of Schmeichel and that of Beckford.
Fair play to JB for stopping to sign so many autographs and pose for photos!
