I think we are still in the slightly dissadvantaged position when getting rid. Listing these players and actually getting them out are two completely different things. Hope we don't end up subsidising the outgoings.

Better to subsidise the outgoings (if necessary) than have them playing at Thorpe Arch next season. That squad of 30 was just ridiculous - particularly as we seemed short of players for defensive positions at the end of the season.

Now let's get a squad of 25 quality players all committed to achieving what the supporters want - PROMOTION!

Well done NW!!!

They are saying Brown has been offered a new, reduced (in what way - cash?), one year extension only (from official site)

The boss also met with experienced midfielder Michael Brown on Wednesday and has offered the 35-year-old a reduced one-year deal to stay on a further season.

In other news, the 7 youth guys (I thought it was 8) are named here:

Nathan and Lewis Turner, who signed their first professional deals last summer, have been handed a further a year's contract, with the option of another year, while five of their Academy team-mates are to be offered their first professional contracts. Full-back Sam Byram, central defender Ross Killock, midfielders Simon Lenighan and Charlie Clamp, and striker Dominic Poleon were all offered contracts.

Not keeping Clayton is a joke, he will easy get 15k at his next club!

Neil Warnock is starting to remind me of Harvey Keitel in Pulp Fiction when he played "The Cleaner".
Comes here on a one year contract to sell our best players, trim down the squad to 20ish, making KB even more money! something SG wouldnt of had the heart to do!

Total joke how Leeds are being run under KB and the lack of ambition shown

It will get worse, Snod''s will be next!

So if Clayton can't play alongside Brown, sell him? No, you idiot! Get rid of Brown and replace Howson. Idiot.

Or the wits.

Let's just be patient for a bit, eh? Season's barely ended, we've been told all along the reconstruction would be severe, which we pretty much all say it should be, so let's see how it moves us forward. This is not selling for the sake of selling, of that I'm pretty sure.

Did you make sure to send your CV when the manager's position became vacant?

Spot on. The fact that we're only complaining about one transfer listing is a good sign. With the dead wood out, and the quality CM Colin (hopefuly...) has in mind, losing Clayton may not be as ridiculous as it seems. Colin's a shrewd manager, and he wouldn't risk selling a pivotal player without having a plan of some kind, even if that is hoof-ball.

It'll be interesting to see how much the new academy players that have come through play this season...

I got scared and was worried about the address, don't want to give one's detail to some random chap. Also, I didn't the know the e-mail address or how to draw up a CV.

Shocked at Clayton on that list.

NW must have someone who has played under him before that can play in Claytons place. Any ideas?

Is Gradel coming back to Leeds? I am sure I heard he was unhappy in France.

What is happening with Becchio and Somma?

We've been playing hoofball this season - Lonergan to Becchio. Hasn't worked too well. When we palyed good passing football we got promoted and finished 7th in the Championship under Grayson.

I agree. One questionable decision out of 11 is reasonable. Though I will admit I gasped out loud when I saw Clayton on the list, his form did dip considerably.

I wonder how much time NW has spect actually watching these academy players. It had better be a lot, if he's going to rely on them.

The only loan signing I want to see is Gradel as I know we were linked to him in March.
We should bring in a creative AM who'll work well with Snodgrass and interchange with him between the centre and the right to confuse defenders. Gradel/pacy winger on the left. Becchio or McCormack up top.

Phil Hay says

Spoken to Clayton's agent: "It's come as a surprise and he's very disappointed but there's no animosity. Neil (Warnock's) a good guy." #lufc

I'm not saying I'd like hoofball! I'd love it if we went for Swansalona style silky possession passing, but it's probably not going to happen, either under Warnock, or with the squad we've got (i.e. players we've kept). And not to be a cynic, but it got Bolton/Stoke up and kept them there. Given that we're likely to end up playing longer ball under Colin, it's not surprising that he's let a player that prefers to pass it on the deck, but hasn't quite got a footballing mind yet, go.

By my maths, out of a first team squad of about 30 – too big – we’ve got rid of 14 (including O'Dea, Varynen and Parker). The remainder includes long-term casualties, Kisnorbo (surely with regret time to say goodbye also), Bromby and Somma, and also people like snoddy who might not stay.

Warnock wants to have no excuses in the the last 12 months of his contract. He will not settle for players that are up and down. His Team - His Players - Results - Promotion

Guess we're going to have an entirely new starting XI for the new season again bar one or two. Considering the amount of players we need to bring in, Warnock must have a big budget.

I'm not sure why getting rid of Clayton necessarily means we're moving to hoof-ball? Yes, NW's teams have traditionally been direct but that relies on pacey players in midfield and AC wasn't pacey. And as I said before, he didn't often spot a killer pass that was on either.

Am I the only one not to be massively disappointed he's been listed?

We'll get a couple of million which we need to make the changes that we need, I think it could be the most shrewd decision we've seen in a long time.

I agree with your sentiments and your maths.

See my new topic "Promotion Season Squad" - there are only 14 players left in the first team squad as of today, with 7 nippers on their first pro contracts (paying little per week presumably).

How long have you been a Leeds fan, a month? Because we haven't done anything apart from sell all our best players under KB! The reason it might only be one now, is because 6 went before and i'm pretty sure Snod's will go next.

Even knowing all this was going to happen, it still hurts when i see it.

People who think NW is going to save us and everything will be fine are entitled to their views. I'm more NW has to earn my respect and so far in my eyes he has done nothing positive since joining us.
