Big difference might well be though that Wilko got £500k for Sheridan, AND he was allowed to reinvest in the playing squad rather than new carpets & serviettes for the exec boxes which is what could happen this time around.

He's just said Clayton wanted more than we were prepared to offer.

Mystery player is going to be revealed before end of week.
I wonder if Pearce'll be number 4 or 5...?

Maybe but the rumours today were that a player had demanded £15k a week; that's second highest in the club if Snoddy takes his deal. The boy is in cloud cuckoo land!

Sign or go back to reserve football young pup! All the adulation, birds, or..... Bolton reserves! Clayton ... Unless a bad egg will be at Leeds for 3 more years

ken bates said on yorkshire radio one (unnamed individual wanted 15k a week......look at the list, clayton is the only one warnock had discussions about a contract with, pretty obvious and i think bates wanted fans to know this. lets be honest, claytons a good player, but 15k?
on the other hand, very very suprised brown was offered a new deal, although warnock said its a vast amount less than what hes on currently. warnock does like these players, the tough and hard working, needs to calm down in games tho because his reputation goes before him.
glad to see lonergan, mccormack, lees all offered new deals.
the turner twins were also mentioned on the radio, and by the sounds of it are looking to be pushed up to the first team.
zac thompson......i thought he blew it at reading but warnock obviously rates him.
on the whole, a good day, im a bit gutted about clayton, i really liked him, good player, good engine. maybe still a chance. as for the other 9 (forget nunez for a second) good luck and goodbye, simply not good enough for the next level. i hope nunez gets a deal somewhere and can push on, i like him, hes sat on the bench for a year and a half and has done well for us
good day though, good start, simple, all these players going means replacements and bates sounded more optimistic and excited than he has in a while.......maybe this is where we actually get what weve been promised. roll on the confirmation of the pearce deal friday and hopefully that will get the ball rolling

Clayton can be replaced. I really don't care if any of the players leave. We have all been here before. Players come and players go.
Too many times this season I watched the team put their time in, on the pitch. The ability was there but the effort wasn't.
As long as the players coming in are prepared to bust a gut for the team, then we will have a good chance with NW.

We are all worth what someone is going to pay us... I personally think clayton will contribute more than snodgrass next season... 9 out of ten will disagree! This is a contractual dispute, which bates should butt out of .. He is a shit negotiator... Leave it to warnock... Me thinks ...The lads on £4k heard snoddys been offered £18k to stay... Wants £15k .. May settle for £10k ... What brown was on! If we are offered £2m plus he will have a decision to make... if its norwich he will go... If only Huddersfield come in for him .. He will accept £8k and stay!. Wish that c..t bates would keep his mouth shut senile old tw.t. In warnock I trust, bed wetting 80 yr old keep out! Hate the man why reveal this in public... No class !

We all wanted change, wanted Bates to put his hands in his pockets, maybe this is the start! Yeah ok Claytons name on the list is abit of a shock, but if he wanted 15k then its understandable as im sure we can get a player just as good as him for less wadges. And for Brown getting a new contract offer...but reduced, maybe this is a good thing as he'll take less wadges but if we bring in 2 new CM's, i can see Brown being a sub and coming on in the last 20 mins when we're winning, to put abit of strength and touch challenges in to stop players running at our defence. I do hope that Snodgrass stays on as we score alot of goals and need to keep the partnership of him McCormack and Becchio to carry on with that flow, but maybe a new striker to add to them for abit of flair. But its time for that new defence to come in...would love to see Pearce sign as i live down south ive seen Bournemouth play a few times, and when Pearce was there he was by far their best player, excited to see who else Warnock brings in as he knows exactly what hes doing. Well, just trawled through every one of the posts and NW has certainly stirred things up a bit.
Personally, I am in the Keep Clayton category and just reverting back to the Awards thread several people had him as Young Player or Player of the Year so he was very much liked/rated. I agree £15k is a lot of money for him, but that only becomes comparative when we see who NW brings in (although presumably we won't know on what level of money) as a replacement.
No complaints with the others, and again trawling back through other threads on the who would you keep/let go theme I don't think there are any surprises for other posters either.
Going to be very interesting these next few weeks and months. Who said close season was boring.

That's all ifs and buts and approximations, we have no way of assuming he "may settle for 10k, will accept 8k", etc. etc. And I don't see any reason why this couldn't be Warnock's decision first and foremost. Maybe he knows someone who he thinks will do a better job on 8k. After all, if he had thought Clayton was so valuable to the team, he could have easily adopted the same attitude he has towards Snoddy: come hell or high water, we are holding on to him until such time that we are no longer in contention for promotion.

My only concern is one of two things.
1, We never replaced Howson and Gradel, will Clayton?
2, Are we going to hear the same crap that we have heard over the years e.g. We tired to sign this player but he wanted this much money to come here and we offered a contract to this player but had the chance to play for Wigan/Norwich.
Basically the KB dribble!

Interesting reads, first chance i have had to get on computer. I have to say the Clayton and Brown ones are the only surprises, and like most have said if he wants 15k then he can hop it. I think #ClaytonIsGod has obviously inflated his ego and if he thinks he can do better then see you later. Warnock will bring players who want to wear the shirt more than collect the pay packets and hopefully Pearce will be one of them, can not wait to see the others.

the other night, and quite a bit recently manchester city have gone 1, maybe 2 up, midway through the second half, bring on de jong. all be it de jong is a better player, but if brown does take his reduced wage, he can do a job, 35 or not. also, games where in the past weve not really been up for it, a WELL TIMED tackle from an old pro can really get the boys up for it. it depends if theres better out there thats available. he has good experience.
warnock had nick montgomary at sheff utd, derry at palace and qpr. he obviously likes someone like this to play in there. he likes the 4-2-3-1 formation, like at qpr, a tough tackler (derry) a good, deeplying playmaker* (faurlin) and a clever player, linking the middle and forward (taraabt) problem at the moment is. we dont have a taraabt or faurlin. thats maybe in his plans, i dont know but brown is a similar mould to derry, although the latter is probably a better player.

I really don't think keeping Brown is a good Idea. Does this rule out Derry coming in?
