A few people today have mentioned Kisnorbo, Bromby and Somma regarding lack of information.

None of us know if they will be part of the NW plan but there's no point in transfer listing injured players, would you buy one?

They'll all be back to fitness a some point, either over the summer or during next season and NW will assess them at that stage, either giving them new contracts or release them in

Let's not criticise the bloke for not making an impossible decision!

Wasn't criticising at all Pecky- just curious, kind of thought we'd have seen Somma at some point toward the end of this season. Hadn't noticed any mention of them so thought i'd ask

Wasn't just you that has mentioned the crocks, so was not aimed at you specifically, you just reminded me

Came out a month or so ago I think that Somma had broken down in training and required further treatment. He should be fit for pre-season

Just in from work and am reasonably happy with the list. no point going over the ins and outs of it (pardon the pun) cause what will be will be and we'll judge the decisions this time next year...(still putting my usual £10er on promotion)

MOT ... with quite a lot of new faces

Agree with that (well, I'm not just in from work and I'm not putting a tenner on promotion but all the rest I agree with!)

Clayton is a surprise but if you know what you are offering new mid field players, and, as NW says, he considers those to be good wages, then if Clayts people have asked for more than that then you can only say no. The next stage has to be to put him on the list as NW says for Clayts' folks to see if they can get what they want elsewhere, in which case we get the fee. If not, then he can fight for a place with the rest, and again as NW says, if he does well, then he is in the driving seat come Christmas. Clayts was excellent for the first dozen games, but then went AWOL. Our memories are short, but my records are of lots of match reports talking about "who has kidnapped the real Adam Clayton, can we have him back please!" (To be fair lots of those reports put Becchio in the same bracket, but I think we did get him back eventually.) There is going to be no rest for Leeds fans this summer is there!

Adam Clayton ‏ @Clayts15
As my last retweet didn't seem to make sense to many of you... I DIDN'T ask for 15k a week. Long day over good round with @marcjeffreys1

then again would he admit it to his disciples.

I doubt we will know for sure what he asked for, but will be interesting to see how much money we want for a player who we feel isnt worth 15k a week ..
To offer Snod's 18k a week is a slap in the face in my view, and when he wants to leave how much will we be asking for a player we think is only worth 18k a week?

Unless you can buy young players for 6 million and pay them under 20k a week, im guess it wont add up

My thoughts on the decisions today have changed as I've had a bit of time to ponder them and heard NW's interview. The main factor that we, as fans, have to remember is that sometimes these decisions are not on a purely footballing basis.

Clearly the only surprise on that list is the Clayton/Brown scenario. Initially my reaction was along the lines of 'oh great, here's another promising youngster that will slip through the net'...followed by disbelief that an uninterested 35 year-old manages to earn himself a contract extension.

Once you think about it the reasoning is sound:

- Clayton's representatives demand too much money. (allegedly £15k)
- The club shouldn't pander to unreasonable demands, particularly given the financial state of the FL.
- The only logical outcome is to reject the demands...Next, to avoid the familiar scenario, he should be transfer listed in order for the club to make a financial gain from an asset. A financial gain that will be critical to NW for successful summer dealings.
- Alternatively, Clayton accepts lesser demands and signs a cheaper deal.

- Now Brown, he's on a hefty wage but at the end of his career.
- NW likes his type of player and could make use of him at Championship level next season.
- The club has nothing to lose by offering him a cheeky cheap contract, and he's unlikely to get much more anywhere else or play for a team of such stature.
- He may reject the offer and NW will move on, but we have nothing to lose by making it.

I'm also pleased this clear-out has happened. Let's be honest, it's been a dog of a few years in terms of the quality of the side. We can draw a line under the loss of Beckford, Johnson, Gradel, Kilkenny, Schmeichel, Howson and start afresh under a new regime and direction. Bates can't avoid the fact that we've been robbed in terms of quality and he's managed/attempted to palm the blame onto SG; shrewdly moving for NW at the close of the transfer window probably in the knowledge that we'll be starting again over summer. I believe he knows money has to be invested, but he'll be keen to keep it efficient and streamlined in terms of numbers.

My only slight concern is with the contractual situations. There's a fair possibility that we'll lose Snodgrass, White and McCormack if negotiations break down. This leaves us with bare bones: Lonergan, Lees, Becchio and then Pugh, Rogers and an injured triplet. Either way NW has stated next seasons squad will have to 'bed in' rapidly. I also believe Bromby and Kisnorbo would be on their way, injury free, and we may see mutual-terminations in the coming weeks.

As a final thought, just as with any argument you need to hear both sides of the story, it is difficult to judge the situation in it's entirety until we see what NW can bring in because of these actions. I firmly believe he will succeed in building a smaller squad of quality, and also that he'll actually receive some backing from our stringent friend. An exciting month or so ahead me thinks.

Very interesting, like most the Brown/Clayton were the only surprise so far. As much as i feel for Bromby and Kisnorbo been injured i'm surprised that they weren't let go as well cruel i know but its taking up a spot and its costing us and Uncle Ken won't be happy with that).

For once this could be an interesting off season with actual action abounding and not broken dreams of player agents and the rest stuffing us around. It will be more exciting than the euro's

Bring it on!

I thought there might be a few more players on the transfer list in all honesty, players like Pugh and Brown were a little lucky, but they'll both make good squad players.

Clayton is a little shock, but he's probably our most over valued asset, so a good player to sell to inject some cash. We should also get a decent price for Nunez too, and I imagine O'Brien will get a fee too. I can't see Connolly, Paynter or Rachubka going for much, hopefully somebody will offer to take over their contracts.

Now it's a nervous wait to see who is going to re-sign, and who is going to move on.

Personally don't have any problems with any of the decisions made, it's all very well though putting players on the transfer list but someone has to put an offer in for them. Regarding Clayton really liked the look of him early this season but not the same player at seasons end.

Yes for sure there are two sides to this story.

A: Along your lines that's its fine to sell all our players even the better ones, and "hope" NW will buy quality players that will bed in' rapidly.

B: We have been clearing out players for last couple of years. We are now left with next to nothing and what quality player will want to join our club when KB pays average wages, and shows no ambition. After going up from L1 with a strong team, to find ourselves in this situation is nothing more than a embarrassing joke and a total miss management of our Club.

I swing more for B

I have to say that I'm as surprised as most at the Clayton/Brown decisions and personally, I think Clayton has the ability and potential to be moulded into a very decent player in the future. NW either doesn't see it that way or else is trying to give him a kick up the backside for some reason. Either way,the decision has been made.
I think we were pretty much all in agreement that the squad needed a major shakeup and that most of our players basically weren't good enough to help us mount a serious challenge next season. Well, that's what NW is doing. He's getting the squad together that he believes will be capable of pushing us on to being genuine promotion candidates next season. We were never all going to agree unanimously with all the decisions but he's the boss,he's been there, done it (several times) and he knows better than anyone exactly what it takes to get a team up from this division.
The previous management would never have made these decisions IMO. They lacked the decisiveness needed to make these calls. Players not in the plans would have been left in the reserves, taking up wages, then heading out on the occasional loan spell during the season, then coming back to pick up their wages and play in the reserves.
NW is being exactly what the previous management wasn't....decisive. He's making the tough decisions. He's clearing the decks of some of the rubbish in our squad...for me he is to be applauded for this. His past record has also earned him the right to be trusted.
Out with the old,in with the new.
In Warnock I trust.....maybe it will take a bit longer for some of the rest of you to adopt the same sentiment but I think we'll see a far more competitive team on the pitch next season under this guy and I think he will have us challenging for promotion.

Agreed, but whatever your view on Warnock's statement of intent yesterday, with only 14 or 15 players to pick from, including three or four injured, plus kids, Bates HAS to spend money as otherwise we couldn't field a starting eleven.

Money. Where. Your. Mouth. Is, Mr Bates, if you please!

I'm still hopeful Clayton'll sign the cheaper deal.

Imagine if Norwich line up next season:
---Howson-Clayton-Johnson
---Snodgrass-Holt-Hoolahan

I can see someone on here going balistic
