... after all, Reading are going to need some signings too.
I'd wish all of Reading's ex-LUFC signings well.

There's the reaction I was looking for from our balistic bunny who throws every transfer window burns a Norwich shirt. First the shirt said 'Johnson 4', then it said 'Howson 24'.
Personally, I think it's a lot of money spent on a shirt you're just going to burn.

Do they need a goalie too?
I have read that it was Aidy White that wanted that sum and he maybe going to Newcastle Utd with nearly a £2m compensation for us. Or KB's back pocket.

Now, as for this list. I can't say that there are any big shocks. Clayton, as many have said, seemed to tail off towards the end of the season and 15,000 a week (alleged figure) could probably buy us someone with much more experience and talent.
Personall, I'm just glad he has decided to keep McCormack. I really rate him and think he could be up there with Snodgrass for our player of the season, but he seemed to tail off a bit under Warnock and I was worried he'd try to cash in for him. Hopefully with a whole pre-season they can work together and create a style of play that uses the strengths of McCormack and Snodgrass whilst at the same time employing the 'put it on Becchio's head' technique that Warnock seems to love so much.

I thought there might be a few more players on the transfer list in all honesty, players like Pugh and Brown were a little lucky, but they'll both make good squad players.
That's a good point about Pugh. He started out well enough, and for a couple of games he looked as though he might be a good replacement for Gradel, but he hasn't done much since. He's not a left back, not a winger, and I don't seem to recall him being all that great in the middle either. I expected to see him on the list, actually, and am surprised that he was not. I would be a terrible manager, so I trust NW, I'm just surprised and didn't realize it until your post.

Hah, that would truly be outrageous! I wouldn't even class him as top half earner at this squad yet.

The squad has been reduced by 11 players. Does that mean the squad size is down to 38?

Warnock on the new contracts offered to some players
"We've offered Aidy what I think he is worth," explained the boss. "I've had a good chat with him and he is a player we rate highly. I've told him it's not about going somewhere for money and not playing a game. The grass isn't always greener.
"With Michael I've offered him a new deal, but it is extremely reduced from last year. It's up to Michael what he wants he to do now. I'm sure he'll have other offers to think about and consider, but he's good to have around the place and he's an experienced player.
"He's probably been one of the best players since I came in and he's surprised a few people. I am looking to bring players in that area, but I'd like to think he will come back and surprise a few people again next season."
Both Snodgrass and McCormack are still under contract and while Warnock was quick to sing the praise of his captain, following his arrival in February, McCormack finished the campaign as leading goalscorer and the boss is keen to tie both players to longer deals.
"Snods is a special player and it's no secret that we've made him a good offer and I want him to be here next season," he said.
"He's seen a lot of his team-mates depart and I felt we had to make him a top-rate offer.
"I've spoken with Ross, he is being offered a new deal, and we'll see what happens there. He has had a good season and he has worked very, very hard.
"I'd like to think we will have a clearer idea over the next two or three weeks with all of them, certainly by the end of the month."
Lees and Thompson are two former Academy players who have emerged over the course of the season.
Central defender Lees, who played over 100 games on loan elsewhere before making his Leeds debut last season, established himself as something of a regular in the side.
"I think Tom has probably been the one bright spark at the back," said the boss.
"He's made individual errors and he's got to learn, but he's improved his all round game to such an extent that he was one of the first names on the team-sheet. I can't give him a bigger compliment than that.
"I've told him there will be plenty of competition at the back because I am looking to bring in defenders, but he has every attribute.
"I even mentioned the Man City v Man United to him game this week when the lad Smalling made a mistake and let his man go. It even happens at the top level so it's all about learning and putting experiences behind you.
"Tom's a great lad, he's Leeds through and through and I see him having a great career here."
Thompson is a young player who completed his scholarship with the club at the start of 2011 before signing his first professional deal last summer. He was handed the opportunity under both Simon Grayson and Warnock, and the boss says both he and fellow Academy product Charlie Taylor may be loaned out next season.
"I think they both need to get out and get some experience of playing regularly, maybe together," said the boss. "I've spoken to a few managers and they need to go somewhere where they are going to play and get experience.
"It won't do them any harm getting out into the real world and seeing how the other half of live, and picking up that physical experience you gain from playing matches. Loan moves would be something that would benefit us and the clubs they go to."

United defender Leigh Bromby has undergone knee surgery, following the injury he suffered at Cardiff City on the penultimate weekend of the season.
The unfortunate Bromby suffered a ruptured patella during the clash with the Welshmen, and boss Neil Warnock has described the injury as "rare".
The manager has refused to set any time scale on Bromby's recovery, but has already said he expects him to be out until the start of the next year at the very earliest.
Better news on an injury front is that the boss says he is "hopeful" about Paddy Kisnorbo and Robbie Rogers being around his squad for pre-season.
Striker Davide Somma is also on the road to recovery and the boss is hoping he won't be too far behind the duo.
"Davide is a player I haven't seen too much of, but Mick Jones (assistant manager) has seen plenty of him and he loves him," said the boss.
"I know all about Paddy. He's a great lad. I had him for a week on trial when I was at Crystal Palace then Leeds came in and made him an offer and I told him it was the chance to join a great club and he should take it.
"He's determined to be fit for the start of pre-season.
"Robbie has been so unlucky. He seems to have picked up a serious injury every 20 minutes or so and I really do feel for him. He's worked hard and in his last game I thought he did really well until he had to come off.
"It's difficult for the players who have had a long-term injuries because they've been out for such a long time that it's difficult to know how they will stand up to the demands of the Championship, but I'm looking forward to working with all three of them."
on the injured few.

Hello again folks. I haven't posted for a while, maybe because I didn't have anything to say that wasn't already being said, or I was so disappointed with the season I couldn't sum up the energy to be bothered.
After the cull this week I feel much happier as I feel the good times are ahead.
My opinion on the players to go:
Forssell - Not taken his chance
Webber - Surprised he wasn't given a 12 month deal. Wasn't fit enough, but may have been better with a good pre-season.
Sam - Not good enough. League 1 player.
Bruce - Squad player at best
Taylor - Making space for a new No.1?
Connelly - Not good enough (Just ask Sheepy)
Paynter - League 1 striker
Rachubka - No comment needed
O'Brien - Too old
Nunez - Not really bothered either way.
And finally, Clayton. Good decision. Not quite good enough. I know some will disagree with me on this, but in my opinion he hasn't had a good game since Howson left. Maybe Jonny did all the donkey work and made Clayton look better than he was.

Peter Lorimer talks about Clayton's listing in his YEP column. For a change, the crux of his argument many us can probably agree with.
I would imagine that a lot of Leeds United fans were shocked to see Adam Clayton placed on the transfer list.
He’s a talented player with many years ahead of him and I don’t think he’ll struggle to find another club.
But the reason for appointing Neil Warnock as manager was for him to make big and difficult decisions and this is one of those where it’s important to trust his judgment.
Leeds are a Championship club and there are limits to our finances. We don’t have oodles of cash to throw around and when it comes to investing funds this summer, Neil is going to want the best players he can get for the money he can afford.
He’d been discussing a new contract with Clayton but I’m guessing he looked at his wage demands and felt that he could get a better midfielder – or a midfielder more suited to his style and tactics – for the same kind of money.
These are the calls you have to make as a manager and the reassuring thing about Neil is that he’s been there and done it so many times.
I was surprised to see Clayton made available because he’s had a decent season but there’ll be common sense behind the decision. Having missed out on the play-offs, I guess it was inevitable that the cuts would go deep.
We’ve all come to accept that this season was a flop; that the squad put together last summer was a flop. There’s no point denying it.
The club are in a situation now where we need to move forward and move forward quickly. We need to win promotion next season and get back into the Premier League for we’ve been away too long.
Neil knows that. You won’t hear him talking about the play-offs in August – he’ll be aiming for top two at the least.
But in order to achieve that he needs to do his own thing and he needs to go his own way. It’s a shame that Clayton looks to be on his way but I don’t think you’ll hear too many complaints as and when Neil lands the midfielders that he’s after.
Changes
As ever, you’ll only be able to judge the wisdom of the ins and outs once the squad is completed at the start of the season but we’re talking here about a manager who’s been around the block.
If he thinks that he can cope with losing Clayton then I’m sure he can.
The changes, of course, went much further than Clayton. As many as 11 players could go from Leeds before the end of the transfer window.
That looks a big number on paper but I’m not especially worried about it.
I took the view that the squad this season was too big and it won’t do any harm to have fewer players around Thorp Arch.
A clear-out was essential. It doesn’t change the amount of work needed this summer but I saw Wednesday’s announcements as a good start.

It appears Nunez is been courted by both Doncaster and Charlton.

The bit about getting 'a midfielder more suited to his style and tactics' is telling - I for one did not enjoy watching his 'style and tactics' for the last third of the season. Also how hilarious is 'the squad put together last summer was a flop' - surely 'the squad dismantled' would be more appropriate?
