Funnily enough I'm already trying to get the wife to agree to a few days down there the last week of July! Come to think of it, I know a man with a house near Torquay! Watch this space! I would guess that it would be fringe players in the first two games but maybe a "first" team for Torquay?

Ha! No not really! What a series that was though! Timeless.
The good news is that the lady of the house has said "yes" to a little 3 or 4 night trip to Torquay! (Well, somewhere in that neck of the woods anyway). So that looks like my first game of the new season! Do we reckon NW will play his front line players against Torquay? More likely than the other two games I'd have thought.

A look at our opponents this summer...
Leeds United will head to the south west for pre-season for the first time almost 30 years this summer with three games lined up against local opposition.
While the squad will be based in Cornwall for the week-long stay, the games will take place on both sides of the border against Tavistock, Bodmin Town, and Torquay United.
Here's a little bit about our hosts for our week in the south west.
TAVISTOCK AFC - Monday July 23 (7pm)
Devon-based Tavistock FC are members of the South West Peninsula League and play at the 2,000 capacity Langsford Park.
One of the club's recent claims to fame is making good progress in the FA Vase in 2005/06 - their second season in the competition - when they were eventually defeated by north Yorkshire side Pickering Town at the last-32 stage.
Neil Warnock took his Queens Park Rangers squad to Tavistock last summer ahead of the Rs Premier League campaign. Rangers won the game 8-0 with one-time United loan man Hogan Ephraim among the scorers.
BODMIN TOWN - Wednesday July 25 (7pm)
Our manager has been a regular visitor to Bodmin Town over the years and he also took his QPR squad there last summer.
The fixture certainly proved to be the start of a special season for the Cornishmen as they regained the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League title after finishing as runners-up for the previous two seasons.
Bodmin, whose Priory Park ground can hold around 5,000, also won the Westinsure Cornwall Senior Cup and the Thorgmorton Cup last term to complete a successful season.
TORQUAY UNITED - Friday July 27 (7pm)
The trip to Plainmoor will be a first for many United fans with our only other previous visit being for an FA Cup tie back in 1955.
Torquay missed out on a League Two Play-Off place on the final day of last season, and were consigned to a seventh place finish in the league.
The Plainmoor club were relegated from the league in 2007 after 82 successive seasons as a member club, but they returned to League Two just two years later after winning the Conference Play-Off final at Wembley.
Torquay's squad last season included former United apprentice Ian Morris, who scored two goals in 40 appearances for the Gulls.
This is mainly for TJ from the Club site

According to the Torquay United forum there will only be 1500 tickets available for the game. Can't see that been enough to be honest.

A few things...
Will the new grandstand be available for this game ?
Will the capacity be more or the same as now ?
Have TUFC announced that only 1500 tickets are available to us ?
If indeed that is the allocation then somebody at Torquay or Leeds need a talking to. We will sell out and thus our fans will go into the home sections, surely before the game was arranged some one sat down and do these simple maths.
I'll keep a look out should I hear of any spare tickets, no promises mind. We will be drinking in Babbacombe if you fancy a beer

Ive been a member for quite a while on here and I prefer (and really enjoy) reading the different topics that are discussed on here rather than post. However needs must and I must come out of my comfort zone and actually post
Ive booked a family holiday in Torquay for a week from 28th July. I knew there were pre-season plans for Torquay but to find out that we were playing the night before I was totally gutted especially as its been 2 yrs since I last went to a game
So , having spoken to my nearest and dearest, we would love to come down the day before and go and watch the game. However the last thing I want to do is fork out £100 for the stay only to find out that i cant get a ticket.
Is there anyone that could please provide me with an insight of how pre-season games work with regards to obtaining tickets for the game whether it be for the Leeds or Torquay end. Do we actually need tickets or could we chance paying on the night?
Any information would be appreciated.

Haven't really got the answers you require at the moment, I'm sure the club will announce something in the next few days. With Torquays average home attendance this season just 2869, I can see TUFC making more tickets available for our fans.

Do consider that at Rochdale last summer (10k ground) they gave us the main stand and you could pay on the gate on the day, and it was hardly overflowing. Granted, it wasn't the highlight friendly of the pre-season, but neither will Torquay. And despite it being an exotic destination, it's also at the end of the country for many of us, so I doubt there will be thousands upon thousands descending on it. I reckon we will get a healthy allocation, but also other mouth-watering friendly (I think we'll have one more apart from the PL opposition for the already-announced home game).
But like NW says, it's hard to be sure right now, so safest thing to do is just wait for an official announcement.

The Torquay website says ticket information will be announced over the summer so I guess they are liaising with us over arrangements.
