Lest we forget, this is the team with Andy Carroll upfront, yes?
I don't get all the rage, Hodgson has no support anyway, he might as well have the confidence to implement his own philosophy, whatever it may be.
What's the worst that can happen, England fail to qualify for that traditional penalty-loss quarter final? People need to get over the ridiculous notion that England is a world class team who has only been hindered at tournaments by inappropriate managers and repeated bad luck.

2004 euros Campbell i think had a perfectly good goal disallowed vs Portugal, but other than that i agree can not see them getting out of the group this time though and Spain will win it.

Questions I have. to satisfy my ego only B
1. Who or what is a Jack Butland?
2. Jordan Henderson? Really, even on standby?
3. So many wingers, or people who can play wide - why have Johnson on standby and Downing at all, when you have Oxlade-Chamberlain and Walcott (and Milner) and Young?
4. I for one am pleased to see Andy Carroll there - he looks half the size he did, and twice the player, since he started playing a bit more.
5. Lots of defenders and people who can play wing-back / full back - wonders whether Mr Roy is planning on 3-5-2 and 4-5-1 with Christmas trees and diamonds being deployed.
Can I have a banner of Bogdan and me, sitting in a tree, KISSING?

We said we'd never speak of it again.
There's always disputes to the selection, but it's not exactly like he's got big shoes to fill. And it's the easiest tournament as well, you can't go any lower than the last 16.

Completely agree - I would though have taken Micah Richards because of his power and pace.
My main comment is just about how many wide men he seems intent on taking. If it means we will be playing interesting and attacking football, I am all for it.
I worry though we will be stodgy old 4-4-2 and out-thought by teams who don't play or think in straight lines (as usual).

England's fourth-choice goalkeeper plays in League Two; Spain's fourth-choice goalkeeper is David de Gea.
this Tweet i have just seen sums it up nicely
Gerrard the captain and the best choice i would say.

Calm down, Panicky10, wasn't aimed at someone in particular. But the general news/comments streams are inundated with calls for Hodgson out already.

I think Carroll is a good shout, even though he probably does not have much choice for that department. But.. he is the type of player that defenders don't like going up against. You know the type, the sort that would have O'Dea sat in row Z with a cuppa and biscuit from Matron.
As for the rest, well there is as much surprise in the selections as there is quality in the squad.

England's fourth-choice goalkeeper plays in League Two
As strange as it may seem Lonergan could conceivably have been in with a decent shout if he'd played better in the 2nd half of the season. That's a sad indictment on the state of English goalkeeping at the moment!

If he was Irish he wouldn't be any good.
Born in Preston, mate.

He is eligible for Republic of Ireland as he has Irish grandparents.
He's been on Trappatoni's radar for a while, I was a bit surprised he didn't get stand-by place for 2012, probably would have done if not for injury earlier in the season.

I know where you're coming from, I think I can see the phonetic resemblance.
