And when did they change the spelling of Romania? This is not a famous LUFCTALK spell check, I have a few old programmes which spell Romania back then as Rumania.
I remember seeing that spelling in sporting competitions throughout the 90s. Rumania or Roumania. Not sure where it's from, but it seems to have stopped at some point. Presumably someone at the BBC stumbled over a map.

Hum, interesting, in Spanish it's always, and only, Rumania. Romania for them refers to all Romanic language speakers but Rumania only where the people of Rumania are!!

That's just down to language specifics though, I think sheepy meant the standard English spelling which is usually employed for competitions and such.

Just seen that the country was in fact even bigger, before having land robbed from both sides at the end of WWII ...

Yeah I was on about the English spelling, I have no authority or knowledge to question how other languages spell it. I speak merely one language - Yorkshire.
Btw, this is the programme I was on about:

Yup, 72 years ago, yesterday. Day of national mourning at the time, rest of the country was in shock it seems.
Fair to say we pretty much hate the Russians and all they stand for.

I also did not understand why 'Mars' had to change Marathon to Snickers

On a lighter, more widely-relatable name, Transylvania was under Austro-Hungarian occupation for a few centuries, and Hungary still says (in muffled voice) it should belong to them.
We hate them too.

Wasn't that to please the Germans? - we had to change or they did, and they were even more obstinate than us over the matter?! Or so I was told ...

Enjoyed that interview Bogdan, with my first evening beer (presume it was a little early for beer this morning NW).
No offence, but I didn't realise you were so young at 27. Just shows the wrong impression you can get from a keyboard and computer screen. You have clearly done well for yourself, and I did wonder how you found the time to be on here so often and now I understand with the web development.
Your English is fantastic with spelling and grammar perfect (and before a post or PM heads in my direction from a certain someone, that is not a dig at anyone who is not so good at English and Grammar). .
I didn't realise we had a number of F1 Fans on here either. One of my best sporting experiences was a visit to Monza for the Italian Grand Prix. Fantastic atmosphere, that I don't think I will experience again for a very long time.
Cheers

Cheers mate, to be fair, it's a blessing and a curse - it's hard to "disconnect" and work, because there's no work to be done if properly disconnected.

I understand what you mean Bogdan.
I now use my work computer to 'log on' and find myself checking it every 10 minutes for any news. I admit this is pretty much due to the takeover at the moment, but even if that was not going on I think I would be checking in every now and then.

Very inciteful, I was also taken aback at bogdans age. Amazing the perception you have of someone from a screen name!
Well done anyhow in bringing LUFC talk to life. Although, note to myself....maybe I could employ the hours I spend participating more productively!

Watched the opening bit of the Centre Court at Wimbledon today and one of the guests of honour was Ille Nastase, looking mighty fine in some weird suit.

Just seen him at Murray's game now.
I think one way to put it is that he is, ehm, "pimping".
