Seen at Elland road No seen the article myself but a friend reckons that according to Saturday's Evening post Mark Adkins was at Elland road to discuss becoming our next manager, did anyone else see this or is my friend yanking my chain?

The ex-Southampton manager's name is Nigel Adkins, not Mark

Nothing in it, Spidey. Not seen one mention of it anywhere on the internet, and I imagine something like this would have spread like wildfire, especially if YEP had been the source.

At the time of posting my wife was on the phone talking about someone called "Mark" it must have been on my mind, also I used to work with a guy called "Mark Atkins" just having a senior moment, I'll get over it.

There was an article in yesterdays Daily Star saying that Adkins was sueing Southampton in a bid to get them to pay up his contract. It said that he was on "gardening leave" at the moment, and being paid on a monthly basis. Because of this he has been unable to take another job, and has had to turn down the opportunities at Blackpool and Swindon.
He needs to get the matter sorted now as he has been earmarked to take over from Warnock should we not achieve promotion.
The Leeds job is the one he wants.

Is it? To be honest mate (I'm playing devils advocate here a bit) if I was Adkins the Leeds job is one I would consider avoiding because its a bloody hard thankless task!
Maybe even a bit of a poisoned chalice

Don't see why he would prefer a Blackpool or Swindon if Leeds was on the table. He's built himself enough of a career to not have to drop all the way to League One (Swindon are in a bit of a mess anyway). Adkins will wait for a project that can lead him back to the Premier League - Leeds would be the perfect club for him in the right circumstances.

To be honest, if he didn't have the b@lls to take the job because of it's difficulty, I certainly wouldn't want him.
I do agree though, to be the manager at Leeds you have to be made of sterner stuff than your normal run of the mill manager.

LOL! Now THAT would be entertaining.
Correct me if I'm wrong, because I didn't see Saints much, but it seems our current squad makeup would fit decently with Adkins style. Am I right?
I mean Nigel Adkins, naturally. Everyone knows Mark Adkins prefers hoofball.

Here we have another nail on the head moment! If Adkins did become manager and he was given a sensible transfer fund and means to repel the likes of Norwich City I think he would do a decent job.
If though he had the same circumstances to work in as Grayson and Warnock then I think the outcome would be similar to the last two seasons.

Personally I can't see Adkins being appointed and expected to work in the same circumstances as Grayson and Warnock.
If we are still in the Championship next year and NW leaves at the end of the season I can see only two scenarios.
If GFH are successful in their pursuit of 30% or so investment then they will appoint Adkins (or someone similar but for me Adkins would be my 1st choice) and back him with substantial transfer funds.
If they are not successful then I expect Richard Naylor to be in charge by the start of next season.

I think it was Bogdan who already mentioned what a decent job Adkins did with Scunthorpe and im sure their resources are more limited than ours, which is why he got the job there in the first place.

With respect, did Adkins not take over from Brian Laws after he was headhunted by Burnley?. What I mean is in my memory he inherited a team who were playing really well together and like Grayson at Hudds he only had to guide them to the Championship,he also had a very young and very hungry Gary Hooper who at the time could not stop scoring. I do respect what he did at Southampton mind you,League 1 to Prem in three years, who couldn't respect that? But again, how many other League One managers could buy the Leagues best striker for £1million+ in Ricky Lambert who proved to be the best bit of business he ever did....maybe he could be a Leeds manager in the future but I don't think so. Its going to take BIG shoulders to come into this club and experience which sadly I don't think he has.....

Difference is at Scunthorpe anything extra to promotion out of League One into the Championship was just a bonus. At Leeds he will be expected to deliver promotion to the Premier League and if his resources are no better than what Grayson and Warnock have been given I doubt he will do much better.
