I put some lawn weed-killer and fertiliser on my front and back lawns on Saturday. On the packet it says to put it on 3 days before rain so am delighted to see it pouring down all day. Apologies to those who were hoping to get out there. Don't know about up'tnorth but we have had a mass invasion of dandelions this year, never seen so many, plus the usual Thames Valley moss.

I get lots of moss in my lawn it's a losing battle trying to get rid just keeps coming back. Apparently is if you have acidic soil which it love whereas grass prefers it alkali.

It's the Thames Valley damp that causes the moss.

Shade/damp = moss anywhere in the country.

I have lived in Liverpool, Leeds, Lincolnshire and Maidenhead. Maidenhead, in the Thames Valley, is the only place where the roof of our house is covered in blobs of moss. There are even firms who specialise in cleaning it off! Never had it in any other house we had. So the lawn has no chance!

Had a reet good roast chicken dinner for my tea tonight, with spuds, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, french beans, carrots & cabbage, all grown on my allotment & freshly harvested today!
Is that good or what?

Have a constant fight with dandelions in my front garden as we have an open field right next to us that is crammed with them. I also had bother with moss, as Mellor pointed outmoss love shade and damp and I have that in bucket loads along one side. Also the grass that seeds from it isn't exactly lawn grass either. After a couple of years feeding, weeding, attacking the feckers with trowels and such like I'm starting to get there. This is the first cut in years where I couldn't find a dandelion. It's a very small garden so I'd hate to think of the fight I'd have in a bigger one.

I know they are still there WAITING but I'm ready now....... bas*%rds.

Put a dressing on my lawn and have got rid of all the dandelions and moss - until next year.

More home grown veg's with my tea tonight & a fruit salad with strawbs & rasps from our allotment!
