As I’ve been in a lot of back pain recently I bit the bullet this morning & phoned the health centre. I was told a Doc would phone me this morning. Received a call at 11:20 & was in the surgery at 12:30 where I actually saw a Doc. Anyway he’s diagnosed I’ve Cervical spondylosis. Now I’ve to have to have a MRI scan and to see a Pysiotherapist at least I can start looking at getting it sorted. Hopefully I’ll get things sorted now.

That was fast NW and good to hear you weren't waiting weeks. Good luck with the treatment.

Selby White wrote:Not too happy with the Docs this morning.

In November I had a couple bad infections in my elbow and hand to the degree I couldn't use my right arm or grip anything with my hand.

Hence contacted the docs and got a phone consultation with a Paramedic rather than a doctor.
He suggested it was likely caused by gout which I've been prone to over the years.
He sent me for a blood test to confirm his thoughts and put me on a daily medication to control the uric acid levels. I've avoidiled this in the past and just taken anti-inflammateries when I get an attack.
However I agreed as recently things have been worse and he told me the procedure was to start on a low dose then do a blood test after a month to see how they were working but its likely the dose may need increasing (and then procedure repeated a month later until they get it right).
Had the blood test just before new year and heard nothing back so thought I'd call in at the docs to find out why.
The receptionist looks on her computer and tells me my test is back.
I ask the obvious "why hasn't he called?"
Answer "Because he's left :?"
So who is dealing with my case?
Nobody
"Well what do I do?"I asked
" Have you increased your dose? “
"I need a doc to decide that"
She said
"I'll get someone from our phamecutical team to look at it"
"Will they phone me"
Answer
"Maybe but if they don't you should ring us as we are often too busy to make calls"

Feeling i will be back tomoz and not so polite.
A few years back - as I reported on here at the time, I think - I developed a chest infection. The awkward thing it was new year's eve and my GP wasn't available but our landlady suggested calling 111 - an option I hadn't considered because I didn't know about it. Whilst I cannot say the process was speedy Paramedics turned up and eventually ambulance men who took me to hospital.

My point is try 111 Mick; you'll initially get a person with limited medical knowledge but they'll identify a specialist to help you. If they say you'll get a call within the hour you will in my experience.

Let us know how you get on.
The narking thing is that it's something that is ongoing and the person dealing with me as left and my file seems to have not been passed on.
Going to insist on a consultation with a Doc.
Finally a doctor phoned me this morning 3 weeks after my last blood test (wonder if I'd ever have got called if I had not nagged).
Apparently the blood test indicated i needed a stronger dose of the medication i'm on and she has now changed my prescription.
So see how I go and another blood test in 4 weeks time to see how its going.
At least I've got someone dealing with it now.

Mrs SW & myself are off to York with a couple of friends this afternoon on the train, going to do the Snickleways walk around the city which is likely to involve a few pit stops at the local Pubs.
Will finish with a nice meal somewhere
