Gutted at this one, the guy was a genuine legend.

Spent many evenings in his club in Memphis over the years. It's a little bit of a dive, but the best night out on earth for me. What they don't spend on doing up the toilets they obviously spend on talent on the stage because I've never seen a duff act there.

The menu is somethin' else, too - talk about soul food   :o :shh:

I once ordered a steak as a main and, for a starter, Elvis' personal favourite : a deep-fried PBJ (peanut butter and jelly/jam) sandwich.
It arrived on a 12" Alan Partridge-style plate, was the thickness of a door-stop, and it sat on a bed of French fries .. and .. the heart attack doesn't end there .. the entire dish was sprinkled with caster sugar :shifty:

I told them to hold the steak

He recorded some wonderful music down the years and, for me, nothing finer than his London album.
This is Alexis' Boogie, written by British blues legend, Alexis Korner :

Nice touch Rigger, as a Blues fan myself its a sad one.
Visited BB Kings on Beale st back in 2005 and you are right its a dump, actually rained that night and had to avoid tripping over the buckets collecting the water on route to the toilet. Although the act was superb was a bit narked that BB himself was playing the following week after i'd left the city.

Just put one of his albums on now

RIP Riley B King

Oh man, I told you it was a bit run down, but on one occasion the mens' toilet had two cubicles, neither of which was perfect.
The place was fine if you just wanted a slash - there was a long, stainless steel urinal - one of those big ones that goes down to a gulley in the floor.
If you needed anything else - especially after eating there !! - you had a dilemma :
1. Use the cubicle with a door but no toilet bowl/seat/recepticle .. just a hole in the ground
2. Use the cubicle with a fully operational unit but no door

:D

Former Lib Dem leader Charles Kennedy suddenly died at home aged 55.

Seemed a decent politician to me.

Another way too young.
