It's 38 years today that Elvis Presley died. What a fantastic talent he was.

Re: The departed
Whilst I've been away 2 well known Aussies have sadly died
1. Arthur Morris 93, he was part of the Bradman invincibles team of 1948 and Bradman once stated he was one of the best opening batsman he had seen during his career (big praise indeed). One of his best mates was one time sporting enemy Alec Bedser (England bowler of that time), in fact its well known every time there was an Ashes test (once they had both finished their careers) in Sydney Bedser would come and stay at Morris's house during the test(s).
2. Bart Cummings 87, The Melbourne Cup king as he has won the race 12 times (he's was an owner by the way not a jockey) which is a record and 7 ahead of any other owner in the country, well liked and respected he will be receiving a state funeral sometime later in the week.
RIP to both.

Re: The departed
Brian Close has passed away aged 84. One of the best cricketers I've ever seen. Also a amateur footballer at Leeds.
R.I.P. To a true Yorkshire legend.

Re: The departed
Hell, I really am getting depressed that so many of the icons I grew up with, in all spheres of sport and entertainment are leaving us...making me feel very old!
Re: The departed
Brian Close is remembered fondly down here too as he helped meld some emerging giants of the game in to a great Somerset side.
RIP

Re: The departed
RIP Brian Close, I still remember the West Indies bouncing him in the 76 series, a real tough old fashioned cricketer.
