The departed
Re: The departed
RIP Brian Close. Just read his (full page) obituary in the Telegraph. As the old saying goes, 'we will never see his like again'.
I once played against Don Revie.

I remember him getting hit in his chest and refusing to rub it as he thought it was a sign of weakness.Mr Russell wrote:RIP Brian Close, I still remember the West Indies bouncing him in the 76 series, a real tough old fashioned cricketer.
Amazing stuff.

I always liked Denis Healey, RIP to man who made mistakes but was genuine, unlike th vast majority of politicians nowadays.

Re: The departed
Mrs Barlow has just commented that now Mr Healey has died, I will have the longest eyebrows in the UK
When you retire, you switch bosses - from the one that hired you, to the one that married you.
Re: The departed
I remember in the 1950's walking through Leeds City Station concourse when who should walk the other way but Denis Healey. He had a big grin on his face and was looking from side to side as though everyone should be kow-towing to him. I looked around but no one was taking any notice! Must admit, he was one of the better MP's and deserves the title 'a Labour legend.'
