He had only just returned home from England (working on the Heineken cup) on Tuesday. A gentle giant off the field and monster on it. Australian footballing Icon Joe Marston died aged 89, he was the first ever Aussie to play in a FA cup final for Preston North End in 1954. When the A League grand final get played the player of the match receives the Joe Marston medal, a former Leeds player in Jacob Burns has won the award in a losing cause for Perth vs Brisbane in 2011.

Gerry Byrne, former Liverpool & England player, played against us in 1965 FA Cup Final, for the full match despite breaking his collar bone in a clash with Bobby Collins early on.
