I don't understand it and never will but I'm strangely moved by this discovery.
I'm in awe of folk with brains as large as a small planet.

We're in two golden ages right now : one is television and the other is science.
It's unbelievable how many discoveries technology, time and resources have allowed us to make in the last fifty years. Computers have enabled us to do so many things that much quicker and it's staggering.
That "dark planet" at the very edge of our galaxy announced last month was also fascinating.
I love it. It's like living in a sci-fi novel at times.
Too bad it's turning out to be a dystopia though

Re: Gravitational Waves
The two major developments of the last hundred years are the computer and telecommunications and particularly the combination of the two. When I was about 14 at school, a teacher asked how many (in a class of about 35) knew how to use a telephone. 3 pupils put their hand up. Now, most kids have a phone that also takes pictures and has access to the internet.
I once played against Don Revie.

Agree rigger, third major development is fitted carpet.
Actually the third major development is batteries - no miniature battery no portable computers which the modern smart phone is.

Re: Gravitational Waves
3rd major development WILL be batteries. So far the miniaturisation of batteries hasn't kept up with computers, hence why the power demands of modern mobiles is that they don't last a day.
what's fascinating about the gravitational waves is that they were detected relatively quickly after the equipment had been designed, meaning that they are probably occurring regularly.

I arrive on this forum each day and often have a sense of wariness at the thought of imminent though mild conflict. This is the first comment I've read and it had meMellor wrote:Agree rigger, third major development is fitted carpet.

Yes, I had that 'wish I'd thought of that' moment.Another Northern Soul wrote:I arrive on this forum each day and often have a sense of wariness at the thought of imminent though mild conflict. Sad thing is, I cropped the pictures.

Actually we are witnessing the end of the TV age. The days of large elements of the population sitting to watch a programme at the same time is virtually gone. In spite of efforts to broaden it's functionality it's just not mobile and so will go the way of landline phones and paper newspapers.rigger wrote:We're in two golden ages right now : one is television and the other is science.
