Phoned a mate yesterday morning, he hasn't been out of hospital very long, arranged to visit him this afternoon. His wife phoned this morning to say he had a heart attack yesterday afternoon and died last night. Only 60.
I once played against Don Revie.

Very sorry to hear that Sir John.

Played golf with this guy. Also shared an interest in Rugby Union, he was on Harlequins books at one time as a No.2. Six or seven years ago he had one of the dodgy hip replacements, had to have it removed and replaced. Got MRSA and has been in and out of hospital umpteen times since. Never lost his sense of humour nor his will to get back to playing golf. He had so many setbacks there is no way I could have kept my spirits up in similar circumstances. When I saw him last week, he was over the moon because he had dumped his zimmer frame and was able to walk with a crutch. Massively puts things into perspective.
