Re: The Cricket Thread
Today in 2014 was the highlight of recent years in my County Cricket watching & in my adopted city as well.
Yorkshire won their 32nd County Championship title after thumping Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge - their fifth innings win of the season. They won eight and lost only one out of 15 matches. Five Yorkshire players from the Notts match had played Test cricket for England in the previous 12 months - Joe Root, Gary Ballance, Jonny Bairstow, Tim Bresnan and Ryan Sidebottom, the last of whom took nine wickets at Trent Bridge.
Fantastic day it really was what a celebration we had in the pubs of West Bridgford

England, having already lost Bairstow for a duck, manage to get Roy run out. How dumb is that at this stage of the game?
I once played against Don Revie.

Just seen the replay of the run out. It was even dumber than I thought. Risky single? What were they thinking of at that stage in the game?johnh wrote:England, having already lost Bairstow for a duck, manage to get Roy run out. How dumb is that at this stage of the game?
Root's form is non-existent at the moment. Getting out to the fourth change bowlers third ball.

Enjoyed yesterday’s game but what was Carey playing at he never really got going when the Aussies needed runs instead playing defensive drives. Well played Young Sam Curran.
