Game over!

Crawley and Burns looked half decent but once the first wicket went, that's all folks!
Owners come and go but Leeds United will be there forever, for the fans - keep Marching on Together.

Did you see how Robinson got out? I know he's not a batsman but it was, well, comical if you support anyone other than England. For me, it just summed up the whole Test series. Must be the worst Ashes Test side we have ever produced.
I once played against Don Revie.

This report might explain Englands recent thrashing in the Ashes.

https://archive.fo/iVgcM

It’s very damning.

Wow, that report is scathing in just about everything from selection, pre-tour planning, tactics and off the field behavour. I read this earlier & needed for it to sink in, unbelievable.

YCCC have appointed Ottis Gibson as new head coach. In footballing terms after Andrew Gale this is like going from Dave Hockaday to Marcelo Bielsa

As the fixtures were released yesterday I ended up spending & potentially spending a decent chunk of cash. Memberships bought for Yorkshire & Notts. Hotels booked at Scarbados x 2 & Taunton still to book Cardiff, Bristol, Chelmsford, & Manchester. It took ages to get through to the ticket office & eventually got them to phone after sending an email. The lad in the office said since the announcement of Ottis Gibson it’s been manic.

fao Sniffer

Am planning to come down to Bristol for YCCC’s game there in April. Have a couple of questions if that’s alright ?

Assuming there’s a bus from the city centre will it go to the cricket ground or nearby.
The name of a decent Indian restaurant, and a fish restaurant
A pub in the city that’s got decent atmosphere ( no loud music )
Will probably stay in the centre still not sure where.

Cheers Phil

Hi Phil,

Buses: 71,73,75, 76 and others go from the City Centre to the County Ground. Actually they go up Gloucester Road (A38) and you'll need to make your way through a couple of residential roads to get to the ground itself. You probably know that the ground used to be known as Nevil Road. Well there is actually a Nevil Road bus stop which is just across the road (sort of) from Nevil Road which is the most direct walk to the ground.
Recommendations are more difficult. Much as I like seafood the other half is not a fan so we don't go to them. Having said that
https://www.lochfyneseafoodandgrill.co. ... ns/bristol
is supposed to be good although the last time I went there it was The Granary, a heavy rock club. It's located in Welsh Back not far the Old Duke, The Llandoger Trow and other pubs on Kings Street (and also the Apple cider barge).
Another is https://www.thespinylobster.co.uk/
Again I've never been here but it is on Whiteladies Road towards The Downs and not far from me. It always looks full which is good.
Indians: So many to chose from.
https://urban-tandoor.com/ Supposed to be very good but I've never been although I have had food from a sister-restaurant near me and it's very good.
https://4500milesdelhi.co.uk/ I've heard good things about this one. Other half has been and she enjoyed it.
I would recommend trying the street food stalls in the Centre, St Nick's Market and others across Bristol if you have a day rained off.
Pubs: The aforementioned https://llandogertrow.co.uk/ is well worth a visit. Apparently where Robert Louis Stevenson got inspiration for the Admiral Benbow in Treasure Island, and where Daniel Defoe met real-life Robinson Crusoe, Alexander Selkirk.
Opposite there is the Old Duke where Trad Jazz bands hang out.
Back over the other side of the City Centre is The Hatchet https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_ ... gland.html Possibly the oldest pub in Bristol. It's also behind the Hippodrome, in front of the O2 Academy and a couple of side-steps to the The Beacon (Colston Hall as was) so if anything is on at any of those it might get a bit cosy at kicking out time.
You should find somewhere quiet on a Thursday but remember Bristol has a huge student population and anywhere in the Centre on a weekend will be fairly busy and noisy. Having said that there are a lot of places to choose from and many of the night-time revellers don't go out until nearly midnight. :)

Hope you have a good time.

Andrew
