29c in Montreal and not a cloud in sight.

Couple of boat trips and a zip wire to do today.

Was up in Quebec City a couple of days ago, superb place would say Canada's version of York.

Damp, grey and miserable in Barlow.

On a more positive note, there was a very good Bank Holiday market last Monday

Good evening peeps from the Crown Plaza hotel in Changi village, Singapore.
Arrived an hour or so back after 5 wonderful weeks in Oz.
Singapore has got to be the cleanest place on earth, you could literally eat your tea off the floor.
Anyways more later as off for our tea after I've finished my rather splendid draft Guinness. :P

A tad close to the Airport there?

All that cleanliness will be down to the residue of all the scrubbing we National Service squaddies did back in the 1950's!

Sounds like a good trip, make the most of it.

That's a proper trip you've had PW, sounds great (5 weeks is a marathon).
Weve about done 2 weeks in Canada and totally wacked. Finishing tonight at a Jazz Club which will be good, visited same place at start of trip and was excellent.
Fly back to Gatwick tomoz evening arriving Saturday morning should get back to Selby around 5pm if trains on time.

Ha ha you're right John we are right next to the airport.
However didn't hear any aeroplane noise through the night, what kept us awake was building work over the road going on til 4.00am & then shortly after that a massive thunderstorm and extensive lightning strikes.
Sounds just like what parts of the UK have been experiencing recently?

Got home earlier this evening, not the easiest journey our plane suddenly stopped boarding at Montreal airport as the pilot wasn't happy. Apparently it was a technical fault but felt for about half the passengers who had already boarded that had to sit there for 3 hours while it was repaired. At least we could go for a beer.
Then our train was cancelled but fortunately that worked in our favour as we would have missed it due to the flight delay and was able to use our cheap tickets on a later train. :D

Montreal -

We got what we considered a good deal for flights and hotel for 13 nights in Montreal so decided to put the new bathroom on hold and go for it.
but think our favorite
13 nights in one City is a long time but really gave us opportunity to explore the place and really enjoyed it. We saved a bit of money due to been in one of those apartment hotels so did our own breakfasts with the exceptions been having it at the hotel on the first morning and in a local Pub on our last day. Also ate in a couple of times in the evening but most times visited local bars and restaurants.
Lots of options near us to eat Chinese, Indian, American, French, Korean, Italian to name a few but think our favourite was a Swiss restaurant which we visited twice (had Veal both times as it was so good on our first visit).
Also found a cracking little Jazz Club which we visited on more than one occasion.

Did do two trips out of the City first to the Laurentian Mountains including a visit Mont Tremblent ski resort a lovely place and a boat trip on one of the many lakes. Other trip out was Quebec which was one of those places you want to go back for a few days, really is nice.

First week in Montreal we visited many of the different neighbourhoods, got a 7 day pass for the transport system to get around but explored the areas on foot. One day climbed the large hill in the middle of the City (Mont Royal) for some amazing views.
The Old Town and Port area are very interesting but packed with tourists but lots of places to eat and grab a nice lunch. Plenty of ethnic neighbourhoods well worth visiting including Little Italy, Little Portugal, Jewish quarter, Chinatown etc.

A couple of Islands in the St Lawrence River are big Parks the 2nd of which is also where the Canadian Grand Prix takes place and they were getting it ready while we where there but not knowing what was going on we accidently walked part of the circuit.
The 1st island has a big fun fair (Le Ronde) at one end which only opened for the season on our last day there.

Our Last 3 full days there we purchased a Tourist Passport which gives you use of Public Transport (subway & buses) along with entry to the many attractions (24 I think). For us it included a couple of boat trips which were a relief as the weather was very hot. The Olympic Stadium tour, The stadium tower (highest inclined tower in the world, Planterium and the largest botanical Gardens I've ever seen. All those are in the Olympic Park which is worth seeing.
Other attractions included in our pass were a free 25 dollars worth of chips at the Casino, a Zip Line experience, Grevin wax museum. Was many other attractions mainly museums and Art Galleries we didn't get to but well got our monies worth.

Enjoyed Montreal but it was strange been in a City where the main language is French in an English speaking country, not a problem as everyone spoke both.

So that's it summer at home until I cross the Irish Sea in September.

We're off for a mini break with today in York, nice Italian restaurant booked & staying at our favourite hotel & then on to Scarborough for a couple of nights again staying somewhere we know well. Weather forecast isn't brilliant but isn't too bad either.
