Try look for a Tannat it's their grape and definately a challenger to.Argentinian Malbec (which we love).
Also found some excellent Merlots

Uruguay is an expensive country though everything higher than the UK with the exception of wine and transport.
Also for anyone going use your credit card in restaurants the knock the VAT off for foreign credit cards. Didn't find out until last 3 days when the cash got low.

We both love a Malbec but after discovering the Tannat last week not sure which is favorite. Need to find a UK supplier that imports it.

I have to say NW when I went to Kota Kinabalu a few weeks ago I found an Irish bar there which had excellent beers, including Guinness. Usually when I travel to different places the beers and ales seem to be watered down or taste somewhat different but that pint of Guinness tasted exactly like it should do. What I enjoyed most of all was the Cottage pie I tasted which was my first cottage pie in over three years. It was delicious. I miss certain things about home and Cottage pie/shepherds pie are among the missed foods.
Hope you enjoy the meal NW.
