After a lovely couple of days we have torrential rain here today. Had a great trip to Whitby yesterday culminating in fish & chips at Trenchers, absolutely delicious they were to :D

We do tend to do Whitby at least once each year, Fish & Chips of course

Not been yet this year may just have to mention it to Mrs SW :D

Had planned a full day out today. First up to my parent's graves in Lindal in Furness and then Morecambe on the way back. Have never been there before and apart from the Eric Morecambe statue there isn't much else, we were done and on the way home within an hour. Wasn't helped by the weather, but it did seem a bit of a grim place.

Never been the same Morecambe since Crinckly Bottom/Blobby Land shut down 20 years ago.

H=Just had a long weekend in a village called Duggleby near Malton North Yorks. Had the day in Filey on Sunday at the food festival and wandering along the front. Of all the seaside places we have in the UK this one is clearly on the up for a change and, once the final few buildings on the front are finished it will be a pretty smart place. There is one block of 8 apartments that remains to be refurbed and they are said to be going for upwards of £475,000 each!

We often have a ride out to the East Coast and agree Filey looks better every time we go

Our first ever holiday (1961) after we were married, was to Reighton Gap near Filey. Our first day was bright and sunny and it poured with rain for the rest of the week (we went home early). We had hired a caravan and the roof leaked. We had to put plastic mac's on the bed to keep the bedding dry. No. 1 son was 8 months old and kept falling off the bed. We went to Filey a couple of times but don't remember much about it.

Think I mentioned it but we had put the deposit down on a holiday touring Sri Lanka next May.

However last week noticed that our particular date had disappeared from the holiday companies website.
So contacted them only to find they had cancelled it, but as a goodwill gesture we could change to another date and there would be no admin charge.
I pointed out that wasn't a goodwill gesture as we were entitled to our £500 deposit back and could then book the other date without the admin charge.

I said how about letting us go on the other date at the same cost.

"No Sir prices have gone up since you booked" they wanted an extra £700  (we had booked when they had a so called sale previously).

Well that's a load of rubbish (or something stronger) I told them(wonder how long they would have kept our deposit without telling us it was cancelled) .

Hence we have not got our money back and will likely be going somewhere different.
