Just put some fertiliser/weedkiller on my back lawn. (Did the front a few weeks ago). Bit late but the dry spell didn't help. Just hoping for a downpour in the next few days to wash it in.
We suffer badly from moss in damp Berkshire but for some reason it is not so bad this year.

Been in the attic having a clear-out with her indoors. Dirty, dusty, cobwebs everywhere - but she's a good with the grandkids.

I was looking for some information on the health of a local river and came across this site that may interest some of you guys. Pity it doesn't help me

Just waiting for the traffic to die down then it’s off for a week in Scarbados. It’s going to feel strange after all this time sitting in a restaurant etc. Shame the weather doesn’t look very good. Oh! well should blow away a few cobwebs.

Re: The blabla of the forum
Just had a bit of a debate with a dog walking buddy of mine about decorating.
We always get someone in to do ours, I’m fortunate to know a professional painter and decorator who charges £95 a day. He is outstandingly good at his job, his finishing and ‘cutting in’ is second to none and he is one million times better at it than me. We probably decorate every 2/3 years, and he is here for say 3/4 days. That’s every couple of years or so, I give him around £300.
My mate was absolutely astounded I didn’t do it myself. I pointed out that, 1. I’m absolutely useless at it. 2. I get paint everywhere, 3. I can’t stand cleaning the brushes every time I’ve finished for the day, and finally, I decided when my wife got poorly that if I don’t enjoy doing something, I’m not going to do it.
Anyone else get someone in to do the decorating ?

Always decorated myself, including tiling. Preferred to wallpaper than paint (found painting boring) Two years ago Tracey bought wallpaper for the hall stairs and landing then my back packed in. She got a local guy from one of those trades-people sites he had it all papered and the ceiling painted in 2 days, it would have taken mt at least 3 just to paper. Now we get the fella back if theres decorating to do. It saves me from the worst bit, the cleaning up.Barlow Boy wrote:Just had a bit of a debate with a dog walking buddy of mine about decorating.

I used to do as much as I could, even though I wasn't particularly competent, but once I got promoted and could afford to have someone in, then I kept well away from DIY. So it's about 45 years now and counting. Can't remember how to do things now - that's my excuse!
