The blahblah of the forum
Re: The blabla of the forum
Thanks guys,
You know, western countries do have a lot of violent crime but we're blanketed from it or its somewhat insulated in some ways but here it happens so often. Call me somewhat innocent or possibly blind in some ways and i guess i was, but i have become de-sensitized by how the Filipinos think and react to things, Cultural mindsets are different all over the world depending on the laws of the country they are residing in.
Come to think of how innocent i was twelve years ago when i first came here for a holiday and i was taken to my first stupid person fight derby (chicken fight, not what your dirty mind is thinking ) I was appalled by seeing it at the time. It was like i could feel that poor animals life drained out of it, same feeling was there when i got to see the pigs being slaughtered and how the screams of the pig rang in my ears and sometimes still do. That pig knew what was coming. I've heard it over and over many times over the years now and although i don't cringe as much as I used to I do still know its another life being snuffed out.
The mindset is somewhat immature here (not all but most), I love the Filipino people and its culture, innocent in so many ways yet you can tell there's a burning desire to cut your throat if you do them wrong. Understanding Psychology the way I do and people, they sometimes baffle me. Logic and reason is a lot less than what we are used to seeing in Western countries. I have only one western friend here (by choice) I love being with the locals because i too learn a lot of things about them.

The difference is in the UK the loan sharks are somewhat restricted by the policing in the UK, murders do happen because of loans in the UK, most of the time it doesn't happen though. Here unfortunately Money is God.Viduka Hits The Mark wrote:That sounds scary as fook Corky. Its sad that it seems like gangs are going around extorting money from already poor families (abit like payday loan sharks do here) knowing they probably won't be able to pay it back on time. What's especially sad though, is the fact they would rather kill people, than give them longer to find some money, especially when they have kids to provide for. R.I.P to the family.
Those that don't have it look for it and those that do give it with a price to pay. In fact where i live and in many other cities in the Philippines, Its not the Filipino people who run the money lending its Indian's who lend out the money and you pay back the money daily over a sixty day period of time. I have never had any dealings with it personally and in truth its not as extortionate as people think it is, the system is somewhat fair. They call it 5/6 you get 500 you pay 600 which is 20%. I know some of the Indian guys who do it and they are making big money from it.
My friend had a lot of loans outstanding and wasn't able to pay them back. I feel sorry for the kids in all this as they are now even poorer than their father was, a vicious circle.

Corkie, that's awful. Look after yourself. Thoughts obviously with your friends family.
John, that's brilliant. I only managed 7 years married to the former Mrs S (although we were together 17 years in total). She was as mad as a box of frogs though.
