Scampi now there’s a delicacy, I remember taking my parents out for a meal in a pub, not many pubs served food back then. My mother ordered scampi & chips which came in a basket. My dad went on about her eating foreign muck

Made me smile that, so typical of the times. Everything was 'in basket' in those days. Joke was 'soup in basket'.

And the height of sophisticated dining was the inevitable Black Forest Gateau.

That’s reminded me of another old favourite Chicken Maryland. Which constituted of deep fried chicken breast, with deep fried banana & often deep fried pineapple with chips. Haven’t seen that on a menu for absolutely years ;)
Still going strong here NW. Fried chicken breast, banana fritters , bacon, tomato and pineapple.

Honestly haven’t seen it on a menu here for 25 years plus. Would definitely order one if I had chance.

Middle of 2019 I got an infection in my foot which got quite bad, anti-biotics cleared it but have ended up with some bone damage in my foot.

Long story but was eventually sent to a specialist for tests, scans, x-rays, etc.
However when Covid struck in march 2020 I had an appointment cancelled and said they would do a phone consultation at the same time as my appointment.
So that time came and went but nothing.

As my foot felt fine I didn't bother as felt it was only to sign me off.

Couple of weeks ago i got a letter saying they are now catching up with their backlog and would do the phone consultation at 12noon today and to make sure I was available.
Still sat by the phone waiting

Thing is although don't think its related as its not inflammed but have been having a few issues with my ankle which gets quite painful especially after any exercise, although think its wear and tear would like to talk to the experts to be sure its nothing to do with the original damage.

Well blow me over they must read this forum, I've just had the phone consultation (only 90 mins late) not with the specialist but one of his side-kicks.
Result is they agree and the ankle isn't related to the original issue so don't need to see me again.
Any further problems see my doctor, easier said than done nowadays.
