The blahblah of the forum
Re: The blabla of the forum
What a miserable Saturday. No football, except in lower leagues. My local team in the Conference are playing away. It's a blank week in Rugby Union so my local team have no game. Might go back to bed!
I once played against Don Revie.

I'm off to the smoke to see friends.
First time they'll meet my gf too, so that should be fun

They were at the entrance to our village for a few days, but moved on swiftly. To be fair, they didn’t cause any bother, but I wouldn’t like them that close I must admit.Selby White wrote:Not too happy.
Over last few months a large group of Travellers/Gypsies have been pitching their caravans around Selby area.
Yesterday they got evicted from the field next to Brayton Church and moved to the sports field over my back fence.
Let's just say they are not the best neighbours given the amount of rubbish they leave among other things.
When you retire, you switch bosses - from the one that hired you, to the one that married you.

Do they not try to coerce them into residential homes like they did in Cork. We had a huge itinerant problem in our area when i was in my teens then the local government made some houses for them to live in. It took awhile for them to be integrated and yes, there were a few of the families who moved in and then stripped the houses bare of anything sell-able. Some just wanted a place to put the horses. In fairness to most of them they did integrate well enough and they also tried integrating them into the local school with some degree of success. Many teething problems occur with the itinerants or traveling community but once they do get some form of education they can become quiet good people to know. I had a few friends and families i worked with when i was a youth worker and although it was tough work and i remember the first time going to the site where they lived i was somewhat apprehensive because of the amount of dogs they have as well as that I'll fight you attitude they are raised with. I learned how to never back down with them and they will shower you with 100% respect. That was the case with me and it still stands to this day.Barlow Boy wrote:They were at the entrance to our village for a few days, but moved on swiftly. Gonna get all mushy for a bit because I'm so loved up and I just don't care
I went to Weybridge this weekend to see one of our newest members, Bugsy, who had popped down from Selby to see his family.
We met on Silverfox's old board about fifteen or twenty years ago and we see each other several times a year.
He'd not met my girlfriend, Jeanna, but had heard a lot about her so I took her up there to meet them all.
About an hour after getting there he sent me this picture with the caption "Love is ..." :
We always take the mick when we see each other - it's what mates do, isn't it ? - but this was a genuinely well-intentioned dig at me and I was chuffed to bits with it, especially when I saw the full image later of the two of us chatting with his mum :
Who says men can't be sensitive ?
