He lives in Shepperton and we meet at the Toby Carvery in Old Windsor which is about equidistant for both of us. Really nice way of spending a couple of hours. There used to be about five of us but, sadly, we are down to two. Made some really good friends during National Service, 'all in it together' formed some strong bonds.

And you know what John, wouldn't hurt to bring it in again for those that "can't" find steady jobs etc. Give them a bit of life skills, personal discipline and make them feel a bit more of themselves.
Well France and Germany are having a look at it.
I'm totally for it, Gone are the days of bullying etc, it's all geared for personal development. Yes a lot of lads & ladies who sign up come out after a few short years but they have learnt something, they have a background that counts with new employers, something they would never get with scribbling on the dotted line every two weeks. I'm not having a dig at those in that situation but I'd bet a large section would actually thank National Service after a year or two.

Saw an article in my local paper about a 'new service' at the Hinds Head in Bray. Afternoon tea which includes a selection of finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, bakewell tart and chocolate cake. If you take her indoors it will only cost you £78 (£39 per head). I think I will stick to a cup of Yorkshire tea and a digestive.

Surely "Just stocked up on NW* myself NW, have a few new ones to try". ;)

*NW also meaning Naked Wines.
