Hopefully when we do control our borders better, scum like this won't be getting through. No convicted dangerous murderers please!!!

I hope we can deport him? Else once again the taxpayer will be feeding him for the rest of his pointless existence.

Bad news, you're not going to stop the likes of him getting in. He flew in to visit family so that will be a tourist visa at best ,which will be given with family in the country.

The issue here is with the Dutch. He only got 12 years for murdering a woman by cutting her throat, and then only served 6 years!!!. That's the disgrace, but it seems that leniency is common in Holland.

I don't think we're exactly blameless with situations like this either, mate - most of our serious crime sentences seem WAY too short for my liking

Spot on Rigger, but please don't get me started on how it feels to nail someone and see then virtually laughing at their punishment.

Sometimes I think we should privatise the prisons, build more, put people away for longer, reward the organisations for successful rehabilitation and education programs .. and then I think about Network South

Here, as in Holland, they only serve half the sentence if they keep their noses clean. Though for a heinous crime like that I would hope the sentence served would be 50% of a far longer term.

The average length of time served in prison for a life sentence in Britain seems to be 17 years. In Ireland it is now an average of 20 years, but it was as low as 8 years in the 1980's. It moves over time depending on crime rates and judges attitudes, and probably society's too. I think you have a life sentence that actually means life in prison for particular crimes, I could be wrong on that. It's not used anywhere else in Europe but is used in the US.

However Holland have always had a lenient sentencing regime and there seems to be few prisoners that serve more than ten years. Many Dutch people I know are not happy with it but it's unlikely to change.

I believe passports now have microchip technology, so I see no reason in the future why we should allow a convicted dangerous Killer unsupervised access into our country to commit more heinous crimes, it should be an arranged supervised visit to see his family and then back on the plane. It's happened quite a lot over then last few years allowing some seriously dangerous people into the country with grave consequences.

I'm not tarring all criminals with the same brush, I do believe in rehabilitation in a small number of cases but psychological profiling needs to be a damn sight better. If in doubt kick em out. Obviously the same would apply to uk criminals when travelling abroad, restrictions on travel should be another price a criminal pays in extreme criminal cases.

He does make me glad we live on a island, even though we are not immune to this type of person entering, with proper checks we at least have a chance of stopping someone with efficient boarder controls. On mainland Europe criminals are free to visit what ever country they wish with no boarders whatsoever, the recent terrorist in Germany was found in Italy, and the Paris attackers travelling to and from Belgium.

Another man from the cloth believing he has the God given right to inflict degradation & suffering upon fellow human beings. How the Hell will yet another Bishop, Vicar explain this to St Peter? Hell must be a very busy place!

What do you do with a suspected Paedophile who works for the education department of his local council? The answer.... The allegations must be false, lets give him a job working within schools...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-so ... e-38857036

More on the Paedophile above.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-so ... e-38840808

I have always believed the chain goes upwards when it comes to this crime, some evidence to support that theory.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... cades.html

In the seventies it seems Paedophilia was almost accepted as being a social norm. I would love to hear what past member and current respected politician Harriot Harman has to say on the subject these days?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-26352378

It sheds some light on why these allegations always seem to get swept under the carpet.

Roll on judgement day hey?!
