Wind chill -60 in parts, yet they expect + (positive) temperatures by Saturday... That's some turn around in a short time.Barlow Boy wrote:The residents have been told not to breath too deeply if they go outside, as they may freeze their lungsViduka Hits The Mark wrote:-30 in Chicago. Been to Chicago a few times and seen both ends of the tempreture scale, coldest while I've been there is minus 18 but at the other end of the scale up in the 40's. Not the same trip I'll add.kk_white wrote:Wind chill -60 in parts, yet they expect + (positive) temperatures by Saturday... Was over there and New York in March last year and both cities had 3 foot+ of snow the day before we arrived which closed the airports, schools, etc. We thought we had no chance of getting there yet within 24 hours everything was open, all roads and pavements cleared (ok a few snow mountains pushed to the street corners). Would have shut the UK for a month.
PS: Bit nippy in Selby this morning

Here on the south coast it's been down to about -3' tops (bottoms ??) and it does feel colder when it's windy.
Jeanna and I have both been ill the past week so we've barely gone out other than to go to work but this weekend we're venturing to London so it'll be interesting to see what it's like there.
Newbury is down to -6' today, but the smoke is always at least 2' warmer than the surrounding area due to the latent heat of the city itself.

3/4 inches of snow in Maidenhead. We are at the end of a long 'dead-end' road, so the gritters never get down to us. Bin day today but they haven't been. Cancelled all my appointments today.
I once played against Don Revie.
