Quite entertaining this morning watching a couple of Crows chase off a Sparrow hawk.

Re: Feed the birds
I was watching Magpies doing the same thing the other day whilst out with Ted. There must have been 7/8 Magpies, to say they were making the Sparrow Hawk feel unwelcome would be a huge understatement. It flew into some woods and they all followed it in.Selby White wrote:Quite entertaining this morning watching a couple of Crows chase off a Sparrow hawk.

Getting a couple of Jackdaws visiting our bird bath each day for a drink. Thought crows at first but just looked up the grey feathers at back of head and neck.

We put a nest box up awhile back but the blue tits have chosen next doors box instead. Friends on the Isle of Wight put up a box last week & the very next day it was occupied.

NW, you have to put in Sky TV and a fitted carpet otherwise they'll never come in.NottinghamWhite wrote:We put a nest box up awhile back but the blue tits have chosen next doors box instead. Friends on the Isle of Wight put up a box last week & the very next day it was occupied.
I once played against Don Revie.

But did they advertise the property as for birds only?NottinghamWhite wrote: Friends on the Isle of Wight put up a box last week & the very next day it was occupied.

Out walking the dog early yesterday morning and i managed to catch 2 Song thrushes dive bombing a Sparrow Hawk. The hawk was just sat there with its back to me and its shoulder's hunched. Everytime one of the thrushes dived in it barley flinched. It got wind of me and just sat around for another minute or so before flying off. Great spectacle. Also seen 2 Great spotted Woodpeckers in different locations after hearing the knocking and then trying to spot them in the tree and getting good sight of both. Another lovely bird.

Was like the battle of Britain this morning with the Jackdaws and Crows having a right go at each other.
We also have a couple of Robins having a territory battle.
Getting a daily visit from a Song Thrush among other things.

We have a pair of Blackbirds who are attacking anything that comes into the garden thus the feeders aren’t getting used.Selby White wrote:
