Have had some more interesting visitors but all the pics I took were out of focus.

So something more common ..

there were two Wrens in the garden today (in Leeds) - this is one of them.

Putting out water(as well as food) is important for attracting wild birds.

Since the old lady passed away next door early last year. We don't get half the visitors we used to. Cath had a real affinity with garden birds especially Starlings and house Sparrows. The Sparrows used to wait in the bushes for her to put food out, and the Starlings loved her raisins. When the new neighbors moved in they ripped all the bushes out, and cut the big tree down at the bottom of the garden.

Starlings. Natures great animators.

Just popped out to get some milk & noticed some guys looking through binoculars at a bush so asked what they were looking at, it was a firecrest, lovely little bird. This is a photo of the actual bird.

Had the pleasure of watching a huge Starling murmuration yesterday evening with my kids. A rare enough sight where I come from. Just happened to be driving the right road at the right time.

I believe you have a lot of instances of these in the UK? I only ever saw a couple of small flocks, but yesterday was in the 10's of thousands, if not more.
