Indeed, pity so many are trashed by some to stop them breeding as they are seen as vermin. Smartest bird I ever saw was a crow.Selby White wrote:Just sat watching a pair of Crows building a nest in the tree just over my back fence.
Amazing to watch, great skill involved in my opinion.

Have had nesting boxes up for the last few years without any joy until today.
So now in a few weeks I need to control this http://www.lufctalk.com/forums/viewtopi ... 75#p155575

Well we persivered with filling the feeders & are now beings rewarded with numerous goldfinch visiting on a regular basis I counted 16 this morning We now the holy grail that's a bullfinch which I'm sure is only a matter of time as a neighbour reported having a pair in his garden on a regular basis.

Re: Feed the birds
Absolutely nothing to our feeders at the moment. The couple at the bottom of our garden have moved & taken all their feeders so I thought it would push 'em over the fence but it's had the opposite effect.

The field fares have been joined by Redwings now, lovely to see. Saw in the local paper that there's waxwings in the area too. Everything crossed.

The couple behind us are members of the RSPB. They have feeders in their garden. The problem is that they have upwards of 20 feral pigeons permanently sat on their roof.
This doesn't worry the Red Kites and Wood Pigeons etc., but keeps the smaller birds away. Saw two green parakeets in a neighbours tree recently.

Re: Feed the birds
Got a few parrots in Woodlesford where my g/f's parents live, quite a surprise. Her sister and brother-in-law live near Aberford and have a kingfisher close by as well as, though I've not seen proof, a buzzard. No photos, sorry folks.
