My better half has an appointment in the city at 5pm so decided to go on the train and have a stroll around the Xmas markets first. The afterwards find a nice restaurant for a meal and bottle of wine.

Yes we like that one, been a few times. Ended up close by in Cafe Rouge as Cathy fancied their Duck meal (that and we had 25% off the bill ).NottinghamWhite wrote:We discovered La Vecchia Scuola, Lower Petergate was well impressedSelby White wrote:Off out for a meal in York but not sure where yet (may indulge in a nice steak).

Re: What are you having for dinner tonight
Just some cheese and biscuits this evening. My two daughters organised Sunday lunch today at our current favourite hostelry, The Horse & Groom, Hare Hatch. Got the menu's early last week and it included 'Christmas dinner'. I ordered the Christmas dinner but was the only one. Three had ordered Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding which looked fabulous and evidently was. I was extremely disappointed in the Christmas dinner. The turkey was like what you buy in the supermarket for sandwiches! Absolutely tasteless.
Wish I'd ordered the roast beef and Yorkshire pud. The glass of red was decent. Roll on Christmas day, my daughter is a fabulous cook and will serve up a 'proper' Christmas dinner!
