What are you having for dinner tonight
Re: What are you having for dinner tonight
The topside joint I had on Sunday was a bit bigger than usual. Got quite a bit left over. Will slice it up and pop it in the pressure cooker marinated in 3 Oxo cubes dissolved in boiling water. New pots, peas, sprouts. Slice of dry bread to soak up the oxo gravy. Glass of red.
I once played against Don Revie.

I love oxtail, braised with loads of root veg and a couple of bottles of black sheep ale and served with a mustard mashed potato and all the braised veg and that lovely rich beer gravy.Sniffer wrote:Yep. A long slow cook. Lush. I'd be interested to hear what Cheffy would do with them.ChilwellWhite wrote:.Sniffer wrote:Just back from the shops armed with a kilo of oxtail. Not sure what to make with it but it'll be fun trying.
Braised will be lovely, haven't had oxtail for years.

Well, apart from the beer gravy, that's what I was going for. Perhaps a beer local to Bristol as there are loads of micro breweries here now. Cheers, Cheffy, I'll let you know how it goes.cheffy007 wrote:I love oxtail, braised with loads of root veg and a couple of bottles of black sheep ale and served with a mustard mashed potato and all the braised veg and that lovely rich beer gravy.Sniffer wrote:Yep. Just made a Shepherds Pie for later.

Nothing. I have a big Sunday roast in the middle of the afternoon and that does me for the day. Might have a biscuit in the evening. Big Sunday roast was - topside, roast pots, broccoli, sprouts, Yorkshire puds, gravy, glass of red. Just finished it and am replete.

Blimey. If I ate all that it would probably replete on me too.johnh wrote:Nothing. I have a big Sunday roast in the middle of the afternoon and that does me for the day. Roast lamb tonight with roast potatoes, cabbage with bacon, swede, peas and carrots. Obviously gravy and mint sauce made with mint from the garden.
