I'm all for Welfare reform, but you can't expect people with little or no money to wait 6 weeks to get paid. Some people are apparently going without food for days. Some landlords are evicting tenants due to rent arrears. As I say the Welfare system got out of control under Labour and needed reform, but surely it was designed to support people not starve them!
Just for the record VHTM, people don't have to wait 6 weeks for a payment. Once ID has been submitted and verified (usually within 2 to 3 days from the clam being made) there is a facility to provide an advance. This is basically an interest free loan to prevent hardship and is repayable up to 6 or 12 months depending on the type of claim.

Fair enough WW. Sounds like you know what's going on in Wigan. I'm just going off what I hear in the media. Labour has forced the Government into scrapping the ridicules 55p a minute (mobile) help line charges. The advance payment you talk about has been better publicised since the government have come under heavy criticism over the roll out.

What happens to a claim if there is a system, clerical error? as in some cases I believe claims have been lost altogether due to system failure.

Think a lot of the media "information" is a points scoring exercise by differing political parties.

Not really sure about the 55p per minute helpline as the phone number was a local rate cost number. Making it a free number is an excellent decision.

Don't know about any claims being lost but if a claim date could be proven it would be backdated.

Michael Fallon quits over touching someone's knee? I feel there is a bit more smoke to come yet in that one? I hope Dominic Raab gets cleared, he's unusually quite straight talking for a Tory Politician.

I forgot to mention the 2 words that stuck with me when people were debating the day after the budget. They were (Fiscal Illusion). Its now going to be 2031 at the earliest, that this so called deficit elimination will happen. Whatever happened to George Osbourne's pledge in 2010 to eliminate the deficit by 2015?

Real wage stagnation for another 10 years. The only light at the end of the tunnel is its based on forecasts by the OBR. Plenty to look forward to for the next generation then. :?

This is what happens when you have a puppet PM, reading someone else's scripted words, and lacking in empathy. I'm not saying she is a bad person, just like most of the MP's she seems devoid of the real world.

It might be just me, but when a person can't answer a direct question, they are either lying and not sure of their place in the world, or they are totally and utterly inept.

And another thing, what is wrong with a politician, Damian Green storing porn on his computer, he wouldn't be the only politician I'm sure? I am struggling to see why a ex police officer would drag this up years after he has retired. I know there have been allegations of inappropriate behavior yet to be proven, but this is bottom of the barrel politics for me.

What he does at home is up to him, I suppose. It's all legal stuff, by the sounds of it. The fact that he's looking at it at work is a bit creepy though. Probably not worthy of a police investigation unless he was using it to intimidate others.

I think I have found my spiritual guru. He's Oxford educated so fluently intelligent, calm under pressure, answers direct questions, a deeply religious man... (No not Sniffer, although I can the comparisons :D ) Jacob Rees Mogg for PM what a guy. Who would have thought it from a working class imbecile such as myself eh? ;)

The man is a local MP and is an over-privileged, pompous arse who thinks that £250,000 is chicken feed and that food banks are a good thing. The only point I agree with him on is his support for Somerset County Cricket Club.
