Going to the toilet during lessons

Postby MissWhite » 09 Nov 2017, 12:48

I teach year 2 and never let children go to the toilet during lesson time.
Would this bother you if it was your child?

... er ... hello.

Welcome to the forum.

Is this for real or are you having a laugh ?
Most new members introduce themselves before starting a thread and as this is such a sudden and rather random question I thought I'd better check.

If this is a genuine question I'd like to know why you thought to ask it in a Leeds United fan forum, purely out of curiosity ?

Hello

No not a joke it is serious, didn't know I was meant to introduce myself.

It is a general chat forum isn't it?

Yes, it is - or this bit is.

Okay, well it's still a very unusual question :o

The word "never" seems a bit strong for someone teaching 6-7 year olds.

Can I ask you why you don't allow it ??

They have playtime and lunchtime to use the toilet. They never have to hang on for more than a couple of hours.

That's an awfully long time for a child IMHO.

If a kid needs to go, I think you should let them.
If you think they're skiving, manage that out of them by talking to them about it but don't punish the whole class with a blanket ban.

That's what I think :)

Most teachers have some sort of rule to regulate toilet breaks.

What a weird thread I was going to say it's a little potty, but this isn't the time for lavatorial humour. I'll get my coat...
